According to Venture Beat, Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been partially pirated, and part of it is now available to shady software buccaneers and other miscreants.
Purloined discs reportedly began to spread after an employee at a shipping warehouse in Fresno, Calif. lifted a disc. The disc that was stolen was supposedly Disc two of a two-disk set for the PC. Venture Beat suggests security in that Fresno warehouse may have been too tight for the robber to gank the other DVD. No one knows how many full copies spread this way, but if I know my pirates, I'm guessing somewhere between an ass-load and a butt-ton.
Venture Beat also points to a post on Craigslist supposedly from a pirate, who warns fellow law-scoffers that "The will come get you" if you are caught with an early copy of the game and “you will be fined $5,000″ and it could result in permanent banning from online play. Take this with a grain of salt: I'm not sure who, exactly, will fine you for playing a pirated disc, and if it's a court fine, it would take awhile to actually get to you. Don't get me wrong: You shouldn't pirate games -- it's against the law, morally wrong, and harmful to the game industry itself -- I'm just unsure of the veracity of this particular Craigslist ad.
In other Modern Warfare 3 pirate news, Kotaku posted a YouTube video that supposedly showed the game being played on a PlayStation 3. The vid has been pulled from The YouTubs... which may or may not be an indication of its realness.

Nobody pirated the BF3 game because it would do no good due to the lost connections and servers going down every day 3 times a day no matter what console or pc version they have . it could've been better but wasn't , maybe next year and another 60 bucks .

Hay ive seen file with mw3 on it. private torrent for pc on net it howeve doesn'tr play since exe file crashes when installing. but data like cloth skins texture and so on's there lol. what a shame

My wife bought a music CD and ripped it to MP3. After so many uses Microsoft's media player has determined that she can no longer listen to the music she bought on her computer. They are encouraging hacking by doing this. If she had pirated the MP3's it would have been no problem.

Wait a second, it's Call of Duty. Who cares? You're crying over a pirated PC copy of the game? News flash, anything for the PC is is just lying on the ground for the taking. Plus, nevermind all the little 12 year olds playing it. I can guarantee the first week you're gonna sell at least a couple million. Quit whining.

Eh.. I'm sure Activision will make billions on the game regardless of how many times it gets pirated.
I don't plan on buying the game anyways. I haven't played a Call of Duty Game since the first Modern Warfare 3 and a half years ago. I'll stick with Child of Eden [got it from Gamefly for only $15!] :D

I can't see how anyone would pirate this game. Everyone is probably too busy using their internet connection to do more important things... like play Battlefield 3 online.

Like the small fraction that do pirate (and dont buy the game as some people are going to dl it to have it early) is really going to dent the profit margin on COD. MOST AAA shooters make $5 - 15 million in profit when all is said and done. the last two COD games have made well over $1 BILLION in pure profit EACH.

I go to school for Game Development and I have had classmates that talk about how they pirated a game and it makes me want to punch them in the face since they are just stealing from the industry they want to get a job in.

I fully paid for my game and as a customer I get a stupid DRM that prevents me from using it over X amount of times. That right there is where publishers go wrong. It has been proven over and over that hackers can bypass any form of DRM within a week from launch and instead of punishing hackers they end up punishing the actual buyers!
On consoles, I don't see them putting a limit, hell people can buy/rent/trade all they want. I don't see limits on music Cd's ,DVD's so why the hell do they keep putting them on my PC games?
As for the "real" physical items, I can use them as long as I want. I just need to take care of them, which I do.
Now,Imagine you bought a football for 60$(not too cheap) that you could only throw X times before it self destructs and somehow there was a place to get them for free. I would say that people would get the free version after buying it(or not) because the ball maker is being a total douche and decides to determine how many times you can use it
.
I only pirate games I fully paid for, never do I download things I haven't bought.
