During a financial call today, John Riccitiello, Chief Executive Officer at EA, took time to laud the launch of Battlefield 3, saying, that the battle-heavy FPS "is off to a fantastic start on sales and quality," but he also addressed the somewhat rocky launch of the title. According to EA, the internet reports of servers being slow or down were due, quite simply, to the game's sales.
"In terms of network services, we've had unprecedented peaks," Riccitiello said. Those peaks caused parts of network to experience outages, according to EA. Do not fret, however. EA says they've "got a handle on it," and are prepared for the launch of the game in Europe.
If you're concerned that the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic's launch will suffer similar problems, EA would like you not to worry. During the call, they pointed out that the no-console nature of the Star Wars MMO (and the already-in-progress betas) should keep things stable.
"[Star Wars's The Old Republic]'s has a PC only configuration that we have full control over," EA assured its investors.

I think most people are not mad 100% at the server issue. Gamers could accept it however the issue is that EA and DICE cant claim that they didnt know there would be that many people and didnt know what to expect at launch. BF 1943, BFBC2 and MoH all had the exact same issue. I think that is where the anger is comming from

Everyone is having problems. It's frustrating, no doubt, but this stuff will get ironed out. I'm still glad to be a BF3 owner, and that it's here. Give 'em some time. Just imagine how many millions of ppl were trying to log in all at once. I hear the same happens for MMOs.

My buddy has called me two night in a row asking about/complaining about the server issues but the funniest thing is that I haven't had hardly any problems. The first night I coudln't get into a match for a couple of hours so I played campaign, last night I couldn't get into a match for about 5 minutes but after that I had no issues.

yea this crap is really agervating everytime i get a vehicle upgrad i lose connection with the match an for me its hard to get them. its so annyoing i love the game but this junk i mean evey 2 games an on the 3rd ill be kicked off an then have to wait hours on end. its like hey we are EA give me your money so we can ___ you good and hard, because all the xp i have lost i want a freaking gift or something. i dont kno what eles to say i truly do love this game an hearing ppl say AHWE well COD is better is stuiped COD is lame as youll shoot a dude an be like WTF! i hit him then he walks around the conner an fall over an die an you get the kill but you just wasted ammo a because hes running when he should be dead 20 feet back. COD has the worst ping ever! if its not in yor faver you will lose evey match. an the lagg swicthers man im not even going to start, i jus cant wait tell skyrim so i can be done with lame junk!

Thought this game would finally give Call of Duty a run for the money but crappy servers and laggy games with even more players than ever ignoring the objectives in a game , looks like a good trade in game for MW3 . lost connection over 20 times in the first 2 days of playing and EA servers have shut down atleast 3 times in the last 24 hours for xbox . COD still rules !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this also the reason behind me and my friends not being able to play together? It seems to take a miracle to get in a match together, between getting split onto separate teams, half of us losing connection in the loading screen or just plain not connecting to the match at all.

Honestly, I have yet to run in to these server issues everyone is going on about. I snagged my copy at midnight, for PS3. Sometimes it'll take 2 - 4 tries to connect to a game... but, once I do, I have played for hours on end without a single hiccup (Battlelog says I have logged 16 hours of gameplay).

They don't care about your server issues because you already brought the game.
Once some people give up the servers that cost EA tons of money will free up and they don't have to buy knew ones.
MW don't have this problem because they don't have dedicated servers for one.... and No system can host 16 vs 16 game....
You guys are so young.... your Xbox can only handle 8 vs 8... come on grow up and go to high school and learn a few things about servers, your machine and EA....

The MW3 launch will obviously be the benchmark that this is compared against. Anyone who says the MW franchise had perfect servers at launch is forgetting how laggy the Black Ops servers were for the first few weeks as they caught up with the amount of players. I do not mean you could not connect; but there were a lot of sketchy looking kills.
tl:dr Welcome FPS players to the video game industry us MMO players have known and loved for a decade. Only buy at launch if you are ready to wait.

I don't understand why they have to do everything over servers have 8v8 games and lower console hosted like every other fps and 9v9 games and up hosted on the servers or better yet let console users host games over their computers like Section 8. jeez it's networking and proper planning not f-ing rocket science.

This is absolutely ridiculous EA. How can you not be ready for this. We've got a $60 paper weight thanks to your lack of insight. So when will we be able to play the game we bought? I will not be purchasing another Battlefield game again. I don't have these issues with the Call Of Duty franchise at launch. So I would hope that enough people will voice there opinions where it hurts, in your pockets.

EA is full of crap. I purchased and preloaded the game on the 24th and I still havent gotten to play it yet!. Origin keeps telling me that I need to install the game first. and when I contacted EA help they didnt even apologize for the troubles Ive had, they just said it was unfornate and there was nothing they could do!!! EA's customer service is extremely unprofessional. I find it unacceptable that so many people can purchase a product like this and not be able to even use it

Only real problem I have is finding a game. If I randomize everything, it will generally put me in a game. But if I specify a map or game mode, 90% of the time it will not let me on. Still, for a supposed rush of players signing in and playing each day, the servers do an excellent job finding a game in a second or two!

Same thing happened during the beta. Now my question is, why were they not prepared for this, if the beta had over 8million players? The beta was fun, but the server downtimes, especially on xbox were really frustrating.
