Rockstar Confirms Grand Theft Auto 5; Trailer Coming November 2

Grand Theft Auto 5 was announced yesterday, and there are rumors floating around that the game will be set in Los Angeles and feature more than one playable character. Citing a "source familiar with the game," game blog Kotaku says the game will be set in some version of L.A., and feature more than one playable character.

If you consider the massive size of the DLC for Grand Theft Auto 4, it's not such a shocking thought that GTA 5 would have multiple playable characters. Also: How cool is the idea of an intricately plotted, multiple storyline GTA that switches perspectives mid-game? I'm down for it!

Personally, I'm hoping that the return to Los Angeles means a return to the more light-hearted tone of GTA: San Andreas. I liked the gritty, serious elements in the last game, but it was walking a pretty fine line between serious and overly-serious, if you know what I'm saying.

While we'll all have to wait until the November 2 trailer release for confirmation/denial of these rumors, which is only a week away. Until then, feel free to speculate with us about the game. Here's the G4 staff's predictions/suggestions for Grand Theft Auto 5.

"How cool is the idea of an intricately plotted, multiple storyline GTA that switches perspectives mid-game?"

I very rarely like when games do that actually, it ruins immersion and all possible character attachment. I especially don't think i'll like it in a GTA game..

Imagine playing parts of IV as any/all of the story characters such as Roman, Jacob, Packy, etc, during certain sections or for extended periods of time, it's not necessary and kind of takes away from the idea that those characters are living people to interact with if you play as them (if you know what I mean).

Breaking up the SP game for V into multiple parts per character would throw away all sense of playing as "yourself" and any possible chance of create-a-char/personal customization/etc goes out the window too.

All I can do is hope that rumor isn't true, that would be the complete opposite direction of where I want GTA to go.

I am super pumped, I would love to see bikes, airplanes, jet packs, and stuff. I would love for their to be garages, hydraulics, and custom paint jobs again. Buying properties, and like all of the cool cars from Vice City.

    Can't wait to pre-order. Ahaha.

Gay Tony should've fixed the overly-seriousness.

Im also excited about GTA V! Please for the love of god, can we have more outfit selection than IV!? Your only options were either dress like a red neck in a jump suit, or some fancy russian business men wear. Hopefully we get some customization options closer to the wealth of options of saints row.

Novermber 2nd cant come soon enough, with skyrim 9 days after!

As long as we don't have to drive around town taking people bowling after every mission or have to watch we eat or doing missions that involve picking flowers or any other micro managing bullcrap, I don't care where the game is set. Just get back to good ol' violent sandbox gaming fun... like Saints Row already does.

Oh geez, they must be using all the junk from LA Noire (worst game ever) and Red Dead (best game ever). It sounds like it's going to be a rehash fest.

The main character can be a snow yeti... and I'd be ready to lay down my cash.

I, for one, and siked about any and everything GTA. I loved part 4, I think Niko is great, and I have complete faith in Rockstar. They can set this in Antartica and I'd be game for it.
