Rockstar Confirms Grand Theft Auto 5; Trailer Coming November 2

Grand Theft Auto 5 was announced yesterday, and there are rumors floating around that the game will be set in Los Angeles and feature more than one playable character. Citing a "source familiar with the game," game blog Kotaku says the game will be set in some version of L.A., and feature more than one playable character.

If you consider the massive size of the DLC for Grand Theft Auto 4, it's not such a shocking thought that GTA 5 would have multiple playable characters. Also: How cool is the idea of an intricately plotted, multiple storyline GTA that switches perspectives mid-game? I'm down for it!

Personally, I'm hoping that the return to Los Angeles means a return to the more light-hearted tone of GTA: San Andreas. I liked the gritty, serious elements in the last game, but it was walking a pretty fine line between serious and overly-serious, if you know what I'm saying.

While we'll all have to wait until the November 2 trailer release for confirmation/denial of these rumors, which is only a week away. Until then, feel free to speculate with us about the game. Here's the G4 staff's predictions/suggestions for Grand Theft Auto 5.

I heard in another website that you would be a cop (like L.A Noire) and your partner goes dirty. You can either choose to stay clean or go into a life in the underworld. Also a street cred similar to Red Dead Redemption's Honor will be used every time you make an arrest or beat up a cop.I really think that's not very different from other GTA games because in L.A Noire you get to be a cop,in GTA IV you evetually become part of the mafia, and in GTA Snaandreas you are a gangster boss for the Grove Street gang.So I only have one question...Which side should I choose?

P.S Another important fact I read was that if you don't pre-order the game you will have to play the entire game on foot.I'm really hoping that is not true

Rockstar to me is like Valve. Every game both companies make is a hit. Grand Theft Auto series, Red Dead, Noir. Portal, Team Fortress, Half Life. So, as expected, my hopes for GTA V will be extremely high. Although IV was a bit disappointing coming from San Andreas with so many things to do, it basically was an entrance into what next gen consoles could do, graphics wise. And Rockstar's had plenty of time and experience with this gen consoles to milk them for everything they have. And if the past has taught us anything, DLC will be an entirely new topic. Side note: They should make a new category. Cause when i think DLC, i think map-packs, weapons, extra stuff. Not entirely new characters and stories. But i'm not complaining.

As many have mentioned. I want the basically everything from San Andreas, from the expansive, diverse land, to the variety of vehicles, the cars from Vice City, and the graphics from IV, if not better.

Seems like too many good games coming out left and right now. I don't have any "free" time anymore. Resistance 3, BF3, MW3, Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, Halo 4, Halo Anniversary, Skyrim, SaintsRow III, GTA V, Just Cause 3. Damn gaming industry, i have to buy food and water as well. Looks like the next 3 years will be Ramen Noodles, Hot-Pockets, and Pop-Tarts. Unless of course i hit the lottery. Then i'll treat my self with Toster Strudles.

It would be really interesting if you were still able to play as Niko from GTA4, but I guess Rockstar would keep the tradition going and change the main character's race again, I hope it takes place in england.

Might be cool, if it doesn't pull away from the immersion from the game. I just want a few things. I want jets back, for the love of god, bring back jets! Also, I think it would be interesting to see a female lead, not asking for it, but it's a thought I had. Finally, improve the PC version, that is all.

I think that would be a great thing to introduce multiple characters to the GTA series. It will keep it from being to similar to the last one. I can already think of them doing something along the lines of Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. They could introduce a non linear plot line like Pulp Fiction as well that would be interesting. Rockstar is great at creating memorable characters. So it will be awesome to see what type of characters we will be playing as.

hopefully if they do the multiple playable characters thing, they allow us to switch to any character (have there be a hub in each character's appartment whete you can switch) but in order to continue the story you have to switch to a specific character.

You know im pretty enthused about the upcoming GTA V, but as stated before i think i'd be set for life if GTA let us customize vehicles, like in San Andreas.
Another idea popped into my head, if we have the kinect (xbox 360 only obviously) we should be able to scan clothing and stuff (i know this sounds stupid) but i figure it would be pretty bad ass to have your character wearing the same clothes as you are and you can be able to add the previously scanned clothing to your wardrobe so that you can keep them in your wardrobe for later reference.
I have high hopes for GTA V, but not too high, since GTA IV kinda let me down with the online and the lack of things to do during the campaign, since push the innocent into oncoming sub way trains...
just some stuff i had in mind.

I think this will be our last GTA for our current systems (next GTA will probably come out for the next systems) So, i think it would be cool if Rockstar went out with a bang. They should totally give us customizable options, like someone mentioned already, about the pimping out cars the way we want, and buying properties. One new feature i would love to see for us 360 owners (Ps3 could have a similiar option, but I know nothing of the ps3 or even if it would work) but us 360 owners, should be able to use our Avatars in the game as our main character (complete with helmets/clothes that we bought.... err on second thought, as I typed that, it would be too cartoony for GTA5... Maybe the next Saints Row could do that... but hell yes for GTA 5!!!

Awesome! Gosh, I hope GTA VI goes out on a REAL limb, and takes the franchise to New York. This series never ceases to inspire me with its bold, fresh directions.

Hey, who knows? Maybe when they make the leap to #7, they can mix it up big-time, and head to the West Coast. Clearly, the possibilities are endless.

In completely unrelated news, has anyone heard anything about those crazy rumors that the giant middle section of the country - the part that doesn't touch ocean - might actually be inhabited? Personally, I don't believe it.

I just hope the PC version is coded a lot better this time and isn't just some crap console port! I want it to take full advantage of what a PC can deliver instead of being held back to a console standard.

Whatever Rockstar does with GTA5 is fine with me. GTA4 wasn't quite as cool as San Andreas but its still a fun game and tbh I still put it in from time to time.

GTAIV greatly improved in the graphics department, but paled in comparison to San Andreas' gameplay.

Now that Rockstar North has their heads wrapped around the "new gen" consoles, I hope they'll return to their old style of freedom. I want everything! Customizable cars, buyable properties in varied locations, freedom to wear costumes (like a cop uniform), and the return of various weapons (katana, chainsaw, jetpack) and RPG elements and custom characters!

There's also rumours floating around that its going to be set in modern day Ireland & the UK and will feature an ex-IRA member as the protagonist.
