Grand Theft Auto 5 has been confirmed. Rockstar's homepage is simply a logo for the game and a date for the first trailer: November 2. That's a week and a day from today, people.
Little is revealed by the graphic, although the "five" and "V" are obviously a reference to cash-money, the collection of which is a mainstay in the GTA world.
We don't have any official details on the game yet, but casting notices that appeared back in March may give some clues as to what kinds of characters we can expect in the game. We also speculated on where the game might be set. Personally, I'd love to see the game set in San Andreas, mostly because I want to rip apart a virtual Los Angeles in the game.
For the record: We don't have a release date, or release window, nor do we know what systems this will be for, but if I had to guess, I'd say the PS3 and the 360 are pretty likely.
So what do you guys think? Are you excited? Psyched for the trailer?

I would really like to see multiple locations this time around. Instead of just focusing on Liberty City, how about keeping Liberty City but also being able to travel to another city or cities across the map.
While I realize that this would make the game massive, it seems like the next logical step for this franchise.

you damn right i can't wait

I wonder if they will jump on the zombie band wagon?

God i hope GTA 5 is like San Andreas, GTA 4 was good but a step back IMO

I like the London idea. I know they did that back in the day. But it was never really a mainstream game. Get all of the guys from the guy richie movies to voice act. :D Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham as main characters. Whatever this ends up being I am sure it will be great. I haven't seen a truly Rockstar game in awhile. Hell, they made ping pong fun. :)

How about Philadelphia? We have not seen a game there yet... It fits in with the gangster theme, like San Andreas, and it is a very large area.

Would love to see it in the western setting like red dead

My guess is that it might very well be another San Andreas (take GTA 4 for example, it did return you back to Liberty City, which was featured in GTA 3) and will feature mostly include Las Vegas. I guessing this because while it the mainstay of GTA is money, what better way to portray the money-like V than something known for money, a Casino. And the widely know place for that would be Las Vegas. Of course, the other possibility would be a completely new location and base it off Washington D.C for it's politics and the corruption when it comes to money, a story we all know so well in GTA is money and corruption. I will welcome the day GTA 5 gets released. I'd be interested in playing it, despite what everyone else may think of the game by the time details come out.

It should be set in a bordertown with access to both mexico and america... I can already picture slamming into a guard rail... ejecting across the border... and fleeing from federales.

The best news of the day. I'm hoping GTA5 is more like San Andreas than it is like GTA4. GTA4 was a great game IMO but I missed to many things that were in San Andreas.

Man, I think they need to take it back to GTA III style with a mobster feel. Vice city would surely be my second choice though because it was so colorful and had such an awesome soundtract because it was set in the 80s (best decade known to man or alien) but whatever it is I'm sure it will be great. I think setting the game in Hawaii would be a lot of fun or at least have a big part of it set there.

I will save my excitement until I know how far away it is.

i think it would be cool if they had it map at SA LC and VC what do you think?

They really need to make some considerable updates if I'm going to buy this game. And playing pool with my pothead, rastifarian arms-dealer is not what I'm looking for. I feel like the game has always been lacking towards the end. The game is pretty much the same exact story arch every iteration, man comes to town, man joins world of crime, man works his way to the top. But "getting to the top" essentially means you buy nicer cloths, drive nicer cars & save in a nicer house. The closest they ever came to letting you build a criminal empire was in San Andreas with the Turf War system, which was just a monotonous "drive around the city constantly defending your turf". I want to pull a Tony Montana, I want to live in a villa with a pile of cocaine on my desk and an army of mercenaries at my disposal.

How about making it a two disc game with all the cities and characters from all the franchise games.

Please bring back Vice City!!! Its still the best looking city in the series and will look better on the new consoles. Not to mention I really miss shooting cubans and Haitians ;-)

I'd like to see a replication of either Atlanta or Ireland. Change it up a bit.
