News has slowly been trickling out about Namco Bandai's upcoming fighter, Soulcalibur 5, but the one question on every fan's mind is, "who will the guest fighter be?" The series has a tradition of including notable figures from other franchises, such as The Legend of Zelda's Link and Spawn's... err... Spawn. A newly surfaced rumor suggests that the identity of the latest guest star is none other than Ezio Auditore, of Assassin's Creed fame.
The rumor comes from an image captured during the liveblog of a Namco Bandai event by PS3blog (since removed, via CVG). The image is of the game's character select screen, and Ezio is pretty clearly one of the chosen fighters. The same post also mentions a release date of January 31, 2012 for the game, though like Ezio, this remains unconfirmed for now.

Bayonetta and Ezio ? thumbs up if you agree.

Bayonetta would fit in perfectly in SC5.

Epic, Ezio is one of my fav's so I'll definitely be getting this one soul cal 4 was ok but the exclusive characters were as cheap as hell and I'm sure that everyone who played it would agree but I hope they have different one's too like altair and al mulim that would be sick as hell. I like what they did with the selection screen it looks easier to navigate.

Why would you bring this character in? Not a namco character nor does it make me want to buy the game anymore so

Remember when Assassin's Creed was all about the promise of a history spanning epic, traveling to and exploring various locations and eras with each new game? Whatever happened to that? How did it end up just become the series about that one guy in the Italian Renaissance?
