Final Fantasy 14 came into this world kicking and screaming late last year, riding a wave of negative reactions. The MMO was almost universally deemed to be broken and incomplete, prompting publisher Square Enix to issue public apologies and, ultimately, go free-to-play while the kinks were worked out.
Enter Final Fantasy 14 Version 2.0. The reworked game will be arriving on Windows PCs soon, Square Enix confirmed in a website update from company CEO Yoichi Wada. The free play switch will be turned off "between late November and early December 2011" and subscriptions will return. Wada makes no mention of the still-absent PlayStation 3 version, but one thing at a time. First the game needs to actually... you know... work.

ctrl+F "playstation" and you might find something of interest. The game is also drastically different from launch and as someone who quit about a month into after trying to force myself to like it, and I have returned and am happily enjoying it. Going to billing seems a little pre-emptive though.
To say the game doesn't work though? Not sure if you're troll baiting or just basing the game off how it was over a year ago.

Actually, they do mention when the PS3 beta will begin (November of next year -- still a ways off!)
The game has, is, and will continue to steadily become better. It's just taking a while.
Also, saying the reworked (2.0) version will arrive "soon" is pretty generous, considering that 2.0 will launch sometime in October next year.

You gotta hand it to S-E though, when they realized their product sucked, they admitted it, apologized, made it free, and spent who knows how much money and man-hours doing their best to make it not suck... and they've been very open with the community. Things like an entirely new UI (plus community-made addons), more content, more jobs, summoning and beat taming abilities, a whole new graphics engine (so people can actually play it), a real auction house... once the game gets these things working, it'll be in good condition.

going free and trying to go back again, this is an interesting first.
i think this game was dead before it even released.
(but probably still better than FF11, man that was terrible)

i really hope this mmo stays up. mainly because this is the only game where you can have an epic 20 minute battle fighting a bunny.
