Epic Games today announced that its iOS RPG franchise Infinity Blade is coming to arcades in the form of Infinity Blade FX, a coin-op game that will be released nationwide this month at Dave and Busters locations. Infinity Blade FX, both in its single-player and two-screen multiplayer configuration, will be playable across Dave & Buster’s 57 restaurant/entertainment complexes by October 28, 2011.
A brief clarification for our younger readers: "Arcades" were a brief fad during the 1980s whereby someone would buy a bunch of video game machines, put them in a room, and wait for kids to drop quarters in. While briefly popular, the arcade lost relevance when home systems and PCs began to be able to compete with arcade machines. Although, many still miss arcades for their social aspects.
