Grand Theft Auto fans are getting some seriously sweet news today. Grand Theft Auto 3's 10th anniversary falls next week, on October 22, and Rockstar Games is celebrating that fact with an iOS and Android port of the landmark open-world action game.
The news is confirmed on Rockstar's own Newswire, along with word that fans will also be able to pick up a Claude action figure --Claude being GTA 3's mute protagonist -- for $149.99. Pre-orders are already open for the toy, which includes an array of familiar weapon accessories, everything from a baseball bat to a sniper rifle.
There's no release date mentioned for either item, though Rockstar Social Club members can enter to win a free action figure by filling out a form on the developer's website by October 16. Fans in New York this weekend for New York Comic-Con will also get a chance to see the mobile version of GTA 3 in action.
In terms of supported platforms, only iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners will be able to play the coming release on the iOS side. The Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2 will all work with the game, as will the Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablets.
