Supergroups are a thing in the music world. The Firm, The Highwaymen, Traveling Wilburys and so many others all come together around their well-established players. It's not nearly as common in gaming, for fairly obvious reasons I think. The upcoming Level-5 3DS game Guild 01 bucks that trend, gathering together some of Japan's great development talents for the upcoming four-game collection.
The project is being spearheaded by Level-5's recent hire Yasumi Matsuno (Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII), according to Famitsu (via Andriasang). He'll contribute one of the collection's four games. The rest will come from Goichi "Suda 51" Suda (No More Heroes), Yoot Saito (Seaman, SimTower) and Yoshiyuki Hirai, a member of the Japanese comedy duo America Zarigani.
Here are the basic descriptions Andriasang has laid out for each game (their descriptions). Interestingly, the one from Hirai, the only non-gaming professional of the bunch, is the one I'm most excited about. You can also find more details on each of the games here and here.
Kaiho Shojo -- A 3D shooting game from Suda 51. You take control of a robot known as "Kaihoki" (literally "liberation machine") and blast away at demon beasts. The game has animation from Bones.
Rental Bukiya de Omasse -- This RPG is being developed by comedy group America Zarigani's Yoshiyuki Hirai. You play as a weapon shop owner and create weapons for sale (or presumably rental) to RPG adventurers.
Air Porter -- A simulation from Yoot Saito. You play as the man in charge at an airport and must expediently manage baggage. Do a good job, and the airport will expand.
Crimson Shroud -- A "darkness fantasy" adventure RPG from Matsuno.
