We (the royal "G4" we) are proud to announce something special coming up for you in a few weeks: The G4 Films Epictober Film Festival. If you've been playing along at home you've seen us bring you two excellent, videogame-related films this year: 'FOCUS' and 'Against the Wall'. Well we're not quite done yet, as we're going to be bringing you three more (short) films the week of October 24th as part of this year's Epictober celebration.
We've somehow managed to rope in former G4tv.com Creative Director and current hot-as-sh*t Hollywood Director Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom, Chillerama, Wrong Turn 2) to oversee the three films and he, in turn, has roped in three excellent horror directors. As we approach Halloween, this trifecta of terror will take on films inspired by Angry Birds, Mario Kart and Duck Hunt produced specifically for your enjoyment.
Inspired by “Duck Hunt,” “The Hunt” is about three hunters who come face to face with a monstrous entity keen on their demise. “The Hunt” is directed by Sam Balcomb, co-founder of Rainfall Films and has produced content for Britney Spears, Steven Tyler, ABC Studios, IGN.com, Willow Smith, Katy Perry and more. “The Hunt” is the "Opening Selection" of the G4 Films Epictober Film Festival available on G4tv.com on October 24.
Directed by Drew Daywalt and co-written by your favorite Feed writer/ evil nemesis Stephen Johnson, “Kart Driver” will give the legendary racing game "Mario Kart" a darker, deadlier spin. Fury and obsession leads a heroic plumber to seek out and bring home his damsel in distress, even if it means facing off with a creature from the very bowels of hell. Director Drew Daywalt is a founding member of FEWDIO, the world’s first online Horror Troupe, and Daywalt Fear Factory. Daywalt directed feature Stark Raving Mad and three episodes of the new MTV Horror-comedy television series “Death Valley.” He also recently completed the screenplay for the remake of “Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things” for George Romero. “Kart Driver” is the "Centerpiece Showcase" for G4 Films Epictober Film Festival and will debut on G4tv.com October 25.
Inspired by the best-selling mobile game, Rovio's “Angry Birds,” "The Birds of Anger" harkens back to Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 classic “The Birds,” and gives gamers a glimpse into a world where birds not only target pigs, but people as well. “The Birds of Anger” is directed by Gregg Bishop, director of the “Dance of the Dead”, which had its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival and was hand-picked by director Sam Raimi (“Spiderman”, “Drag Me to Hell”) for distribution through Lionsgate and Ghost House Pictures. “The Birds of Anger” is the "Closing Selection" for G4 Films Epictober Film Festival and will be available here on G4tv.com on October 26.
We'll be bringing you trailers and some reasonably awesome movie posters for these three films in the next couple weeks. We're pretty excited about this project and can't wait for you to be able to check them out.
