Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Is Confirmed

The guessing games can cease. It is a rumor no more: Mass Effect 3 has multiplayer. This is a confirmed fact, compliments of Australian gaming magazine PC PowerPlay, which visited BioWare's Edmonton offices to check out the March 6, 2012 release.

We'll have to wait until the next issue of the magazine arrives on October 19 before we get any details on how it works, of course. But after months of speculation and rumor that both confirmed and denied the mode's existence, it's nice to have an official score on things. Mass Effect 3 has multiplayer. Excited?

What?...Well besides the epic single player im suppose to expect MP as well hoping the SP didn't get tarnished in the process. If any MP is to be added it should be Co-Op and nothing more no need to oversell a sure to be amazing game. If the SP is in any way ruined i might just start a new life as some odd dolphin-amphibian thing so....yeah.

PS: EA wtf leave Bioware be if you guys want MP develop a MMO called MassEffect: Galaxy Wars or some thing. But in all respect have a good day abd don't mess with the game Casey Hudson has this.

Just like some of you think the inclusion of multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 will take focus away from the single player, I think the inclusion of singleplayer into Battlefield 3 will waterdown the multiplayer. Both games are known for either their well thought out singleplayer or multiplayer not both.

@didisaythat This is ME3 as in there are 2 other games full of story and character development. If you played ME1&2 you know the entire story leading up to the war, if not they will recap it for you. Saying that is like saying that since the Citadel was destroyed in ME1 there was no story in ME2. ME has always put emphasis on the fact that earth is just another rock in a vast universe thats why you never go there (its moon doesn't count). the story and characters will develop fine with or without earth as a main location.

kneejerk reaction is they're killing this game and tarnishing the series. But after taking a few deep breaths I trust Muzyka & Zeschuk on any decision they have on the game. Havent let me down yet.

Jesus stop bitching about it, no where does it say you have to play multiplayer. Stop complaining and don't play it if you don't want to.

why do most of you assume that multiplayer will make this a bad game or take away from the story this is bioware im sure they know what their doing they've been making great games for years this will be no different the sorry will not suffer they know its their bread and butter and thats what the fans care about multiplayer is just extra no one said you have to play it its just there if you want it stop complaning all the damn time about nothing you dont even know what it is yet

Honestly I don't see what the big problem people have with this addition there was talk about bioware working with dice on shooting mechanics and probably mutiplayer. Its probably not a feature I'll personally use a lot but it's nice that they added it into the game. That being said I noticed that some one made a comparison to call of duty, I'd just like to point out that Mass effect is a third person shooter and doesn't deserve to be compared to the game that generalized every first person shooter, and when you think about it's hard to not compare a shooter these days to call of duty. Stop being a hipster turn you're computer off and go get some friends instead of flaming on g4.

I'm not sure about this, honestly. I'm still new to the ME universe but from what I have experienced, it seems to be more geared towards single player. Doesn't mean that multiplayer can't be awesome, it just all depends on how well it's integrated. I hope there are no forced "oh you have to play multiplayer to get 100%" type of things, though, as that really doesn't work for everyone's situation.

But we also don't have all the details for how the multiplayer works. I hope it works great, and not forced for those who want 100% but not want or can't have multiplayer. Hey, some of us don't enjoy multiplayer games or don't enjoy it for certain types of games.

Wow. The addition of a simple game mode 'ruins' an entire game for you?

Some "fan" you turned out to be. This goes for anyone with the above mindset.

Did anyone read the heading under the title on the page? "Fight alongside your friends as the galaxy goes to war." To me, that doesn't give me the impression of a CoD-style or TDM style multiplayer. It tells me that there are only two possible solutions:

    1) A Co-op single player, maybe separate missions like mini-missions a random squad completes during the war with the Reapers or

    2) A horde-mode style multiplayer. Much like the initial trailer where the one guy was in the tower with the sniper and he saw the group of enemies running. I think if anything, horde mode would suit ME3 best because of the AoE biotics and squad based combat.

Am I the only one who is really excited for some co-op gameplay? Why would that have any effect on the story line. You could use almost the same exact coding and just open if up for outside controll of one of your squad mates. So tired of the gaming community whining about everything all the time. I've wished Mass Effect would have had CO-OP from day one. I would still beat the campaign the first time by myself but I would love to replay it with my buddies. If you think this was somehow going to compromise the storyline then trust me the storyline was already going to be sucky.

Let's face it, ME3 will be an action game. They took away a good portion of the RPG elements for ME2, and now there's this. And since Earth is under attack from the beginning of the game I can't see how they'll squeeze in all the story and character development that makes Bioware games great.

Well here's how i see it. Will it affect my single player story? no. Now if they give me the ability to design my own character i.e. that pink chromed out krogan i've been dreaming of then hell go for it. Maybe it'll be like dead space 2 multiplayer and fall by the way-side

This as already ruined ME3 for me. Plus it's published by EA and I don't support them anymore. Hopefully I can read that ME3 wasn't tarnished by this addition of MP.

We fear the effect EA has on Bioware as they were probably the one's pushing multiplayer in the first place. We should have faith in Bioware to deliver the game we all want. They listen to the fans and deliver what we desire. It'll be co-op and people will love it
