There are not many movies that can legitimately be called "Events," but the Farmville movie hinted at by the writers of Toy Story deserves that moniker. When asked about upcoming projects, Hollywood blockbuster-writers Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen said:
"We are also working on several new and very exciting opportunities. We're in conversations with Zynga to do something with one of their brands. Can't really say too much on that front yet, but 'Old MacDonald' didn't have a factory, if you get our drift."
This hint of a Farmville flick is the best news I have ever heard. It would take the combination of Cohen and Sokolow (Evan Almighty, Daddy Daycamp) with deep stories created by Zynga to truly bring the pagendtry and majesty of Farmville to the big screen!
If I were writing Farmville: The Movie, I would use the interlocking stories of Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio as a template. My film would focus on the people who play Farmville, as opposed to its fictional universe. Where Anderson's small town residents all suffered from an unknowable, quiet despair, the people who play Farmville all day would just click things a lot.
I'm kind of a genius, is what I'm saying.
