Console gamers tend to put up with a lot of indignities compared to their PC brethren where certain games are concerned. It's not unusual to see free PC DLC saddled with a price tag on your console marketplace of choice. The latest slap in the face comes in the form of DICE's newly expanded PC beta for Battlefield 3, which gets the jet-filled Caspian Border map today.
DICE notes on the Battlelog (via PC Gamer) that the expanded scope of the beta is meant to test out the server loads in 64-player matches, a count that's unique to the PC version of the game. That's not going to make it any easier for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 testers, who continue to be limited to the vehicle-free Operation Metro map. Fortunately, the beta ends on October 10 and the game is out on October 25, so the wait won't be much longer.

as much as I love my consoles this will just be better on PC hands down...too bad I won`t be upgrading my hardware anytime soon.

So what you're saying is, the fact that we get a beta map (which will have no effect when actual release of BF3 takes place), it's a slap to the face to console gamers? What about all the crap ports, delayed DLC, and overall disdain the PC community has been received the past decade, is that a slap to the face you'd like to consider? This game is designed for us REAL gamers on PC, and you console queers finally get a crap port, so I'd consider that a boot to the head instead of a slap. Adam, do us a favor and fill a bathtub with your console woe tears, plug in a toaster, and jump in with it :D

I have a nice PC, a PS3, and a 360. All are good and all have their advantages.

Let us get one thing VERY CLEAR about you PC fanboys...You have to keep updating graphics cards, Shader 2.0-3.0, Direct X 10-11, drivers etc. to keep up w/present games while consoles last a lot longer w/out needing to come out w/a next gen. console. You can't sit there and tell me that you have been using the same gear from 5-6 years ago when the Crapbox and PS3 came out..derps

i dont know what u r all talking about. i think BF3 looks beautiful on my Ps3. im not saying its better then PC, i have one of those, i know the kind of graphics power it puts out, but consoles arent supposed to look better then PC, and if you think that, your an idiot. but still PS3 hooked up to an HDTV via HDMI cable, looks amazing!
im excited to play other maps on bf3 in the real game. and deff excited to play other mode. i hate Rush cause its all one big camp fest on both sides and its just not my play style. id rather play TDM :)

Congrats to PC users, whom have been given poor ports of big title console games for MANY long years...it's about time that PC gamers get something positive.

The consoles graphics are being hindered due to age. BF3 on the PC uses DX11 which allows for some awesome lighting effects, and consoles are stuck in the past. Its just not possible. However the fact that they developed it on PC first allowed the consoles to get the best looking version that it could handle.

not sure about the difference between beta and demo (especially with game coming out in a few weeks). I pre ordered this game and it looks horrible on my ps3. it's fully paid off. I want someone to challenge cod to make them step their game up. but what I've seen doesn't breed any confidence in bf3. if I don't see great improvement I'm gonna buy mw3 instead. can't invest in another pricey flop. also, everyone calls activision out for making us overpay. did anyone play that trash that came in this years madden case. ea can't talk when it comes to robbing consumers.

Too bad DICE could not bring a bit more of the games graphical prowess to the consoles, a bit closer to the PC look than it is right now. The game looks so ugly on consoles. The only thing that does carry over well is the sound effects; oh there have been times where I just crawl all over the place and enjoy hearing that crunching, slushing sound from the equipment. The guns sound great as well. The lighting is horrific, you can't see the badass lighting surrounding RPGs when fired in closed environments across a tunnel. This demo was kind of a let down. Not a good sign.
