According to the Associated Press, Apple Co-Founder and technological giant Steve Jobs has died. He was 56. According to a statement issued by his relatives, "Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family."
Jobs, who founded Apple Computing with Steve Wozniak, Mike Markkula, and others in the late 1970s, is responsible directly and indirectly for the iPhone, the iPad, The Apple Macintosh line of computers and a number of other innovations that have revolutionized the way we work, play, and interact. Jobs had been battling a rare and painful form of pancreatic cancer since 2004, and resigned from his position as head of Apple on August 24 of this year, writing that he could "no longer meet his duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO." Since then, Jobs had served as the chairman of Apple's board of directors.
"In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family," the Jobs' family statement reads, "We are thankful to the many people who have shared their wishes and prayers during the last year of Steve's illness; a website will be provided for those who wish to offer tributes and memories."
"Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple," Apple said in a statement.
Sometimes referred to as the Thomas Edison of his time, Jobs was either the primary inventor or co-inventor of 338 US patents or patent applications ranging from computer and portable devices to user interfaces, speakers, keyboards, power adapters, staircases, clasps, sleeves, lanyards and packages. His impressive array of patents speaks towards his creativity, ingenuity, and love of innovation, along with his hands-on approach to management, one that he applied very successfully during his time at Apple.
Jobs was also instrumental in the success of computer animation company Pixar, purchasing the company in the late 1990s and acting as its CEO through one of the most successful times in the company's history, producing classic movies like A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, WALL-E, and Toy Story 3.
With his trademark black turtleneck, Apple fans always looked forward to Jobs getting up on stage and announcing "just one more thing," but it was never just one more thing; it was always so much more than that. Apple, under Jobs's impressive leadership, introduced products that were not only useful, but incredibly simple to use and stylish. Jobs transformed Apple from a producer of products to a worldwide brand that oozes class and sophistication.
In recent years with the release of the iPhone and iPad which ushered in the era of smart phones and mobile gaming for the masses, it seems as though the entire tech industry has been trying to keep pace with Apple, without ever been able to catch up. What Steve Jobs built was a company that made computing sexy. The allure of owning an iPhone is not only that it's an impressive piece of machinery, but that all the cool kids have one. . .and Steve Jobs was definitely one of the cool kids.
We'll miss you, Steve.

One of our greatest minds has pasted away to a better place where he can fully envision what we could only dream of on this plane. May he R.I.P.

He took a bite of an apple, and the world change because of it.
Without him, there wouldn't be computer to the masses
Without him, there wouldn't be graphic user interface or to the very extend.... windows
Without him, there wouldn't be the mouse
Without him, there wouldn't be digital music as we know it
Without him, there wouldn't be apps (yes, he pioneered the terms "killer apps" long before it was cool)
Without him, there wouldn't be Adobe Photoshop
Without him, there wouldn't be Pixar Animation Studio, therefore we probably wouldn't have Renderman, in turn... there wouldn't be 3dMax, Maya, Xsi, etc....
Without him, there wouldn't be..... us.
Cheers to you the brilliant mind & the visionary of our times!

I remember learning basic on the apple IIe way back in high school. it was then that I fell in love with apple products. steve was always the most innovative man in the industry. he was a hero who not only showed us what was possible but who put the impossible in our hands.

I am not, nor have I been an Apple user -- but that's only 'cause I'm broke --, but I can honestly say there is almost nobody I have more respect for than Steve Jobs. He has done amazing things and has literally changed the way the population communicates. He will be missed.
Hopefully, Apple sees that their duty now is to continue his legacy and make sure all he has done will not be in vain.

Here s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes the ones who see things differently they re not fond of rules ....while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do. Think Different
- Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011)
R.I.P, You will be missed.

Much respect for this creative visionary genius who at last can rest.
I have never owned an apple product. But that doesn't change the fact that the world is poorer without Steve.

I find myself pondering his decisions during the last year of his life, and I believe he knew that the end was coming. Think about it, he hand picks a successor, and I think I heard somewhere that he had written out, or sketched down some new ideas and innovations that the engineers and such at Apple could be working on for 5 or so years. He likely did the hand picking and new ideas so that his company, his child really, wouldn't be burdened by trying to scramble and pick up any pieces after he passed. They now have an intelligent new leader, with a game plan long enough to acclimatize to a Jobs-less world. Only time will tell if these well laid plans keep Apple going, and knowing Jobs they'll probably send Apple to a place even he hardly dare dream of going. So long Rocketman :)

Thank you Steve Jobs. Today is 10-05-2011 and today will never be forgotten. As the dreamers die, let the dreams begin. To everyone around the world and the world itself, we lost a shining beacon of humanity today. Every technology that has made our planet a common people is indebted to one man's unimaginable integrity. Like another visionary that we will always remember said,
"you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us and we the world could live as one."
God bless us all that his spirit live on within us all and be our cause for striving to give more and take less. We are robbed of Mr. Jobs as we were with John Lennon as well of so many others. The optimists say why, not why not. I am pushed just enough, so far to say how deeply that so many little things add up to make a person's being and worth and give them the know-how to do wonderful things even if they come from very horrible things. We are told of the value of a seed being unimportant, but one found revelation in a dying apple that fell upon his head. I know I will not be alone in watching the Apple Co. hoping for the continuity of legacy and, being without their leader, keep them working for the betterment of civilization and not lose their heritage in a money-driven world. It is the best of us that only reach the possible by ignoring what is said to be impossible. Those who take ideas from facts and perception, looking past the spotlight being shown on the cover of a book and being interested in the contents not described by a superficial definition.
To point fingers at steep curves, where slowing down is a practice, and ignoring gravity and therefore not asking where it comes from but looking at the best outcome of where it can be. A moment in time where slowing down is nesaary for the longevity of life. We may loose our Captain, but let us not loose our heading. We raise our sails letting the gusts of inspiration blow harder as we realize the beauty from where the wind came from. We all bear fright in our inner core but we can find great hope in the passion of each of us. The one who speaks the loudest in face of crisis knows best, or rather better, for a good man makes himself and those around him happy for the time being, a great man tries to make the best of what is the most worst that is ahead of us. By refusing the deception sold by the convoluted, increase your price to be bought. Only recognize the purity and fight the manditory perception. Do not go along with the price set, the quality set in place, but rise to be selfless and become an entity that says loudly, we are the majority not the minority. We may be sightless visionaries and deaf to the symphony, but we know that they need us more than we need them. Those who cared about the suffering and spoke, had the heart of the child. They see that collective conscience and pull the misled out of the shadows. Pull yourself out of abscurity and rise to what we can all become.
Humanity will rise because we know better than our surrounding. Rise to the best of the hills and valleys of our strife. We will not let the new standards fall and accept the tricks sold to us. WE as the culture of our times, raise our glasses to a life that had an impact on all that we know and have found. We will take onto our own and sing the song that is of the same note. Steve looked in the direction of progress and would not accept fraility as an excuse. We are not all the head cheerleaders, but we are all the bright lights that shine out of a situation that is inept and sad. We are what rises above the worth taught to us the lesser.
In the beginning of the game we may have been shying away from courage, but we bring about the dawn of the age of no man shall suffer while others gain. WE are of no great depression or war, we are conditioned to lack a purpose, where we shall distinguish our next step in human civilization. Our limits of man should not be set, but ever changing, by the people who believe different. We have taken advantage of the sun thinking that it will always be We are seeing the setting sun believing now that we may raise the sun in the sky again, for we are mighty, we know better, we will BE BETTER! Those who want conformity will always benefit from it, while those who fought to give the masses power are always stunted, shadowed and silenced. In order that we do not mourn and be saddened, move the current and not never let it pull you. What if our imaginary 'John Conner' has just been taken away?? Why will you keep striving?? We will not be calm as our General dies, we will 'tweet', 'like', blog, and pass along the code of our limitless connection. We are one planet and if one fails, none survive.
I believe that my thoughts should come so fast that I shouldn't be able to think only of myself. Freedom says that it's the opposite of suppression, but we aren't seeing the change that we want to see. We are able to be submerged into the fullest accesses we've ever accomplished before. We are no longer shy and passified. We seem to be faceless and believe in a great person, but we can persevere to make ourselves great people. A voice may be heard by many and only believed by few, but a loud voice tends to be heard by many and enables more. We won't be satisfied by conditioning and silencing, we have no reason to. Everyone can now be heard and every decision counted.
The pain of losing our compass makes us create new ones of our own. Brilliance has risen above the calm and the calm has now become brilliant. Our hero will not become dim, because we are now his representitives. We seek shelter under those who claim to be our protectors and we have been told we have the largest amount of worths, but few of us show our truths and talents. Some hold the belief that they should say 'me,' instead of 'mine.' When we are entitled to a global presense, we should have the founders of ideals actively being heard. Saying that we are a global society says that we will have values on a global front. When we see what's wrong, we can say what's right. Barriers are given extensions to create a forged frontier. We have a place that is as far as we've come and looking toward the best place to go towards.
We're seldom able to see our heroes take themselves out of the equation to help give rise to the many. We all reside under the same roof and need the same to survive. And we have our right to see sunlight. Free sources of information is enabling us with the ability to see things for ourselves. We've been given a lesson saying we might not want to continue being puppies and kittens.
Written with love and a great satisfaction to the computers and connection available, a girl, her brother and their dog Copernicus

Although I am not an Apple user or do I ever intend to buy one. I do know what Jobs did for the industry. He was the architect that created the foundation for what we use today.Be it PC or Mac. None would have happened as it did without Jobs and his vision. For that I pay my respects to a man who has given us what we have today and what will be created in the future. R.I.P.

I felt heart broken when I heard the news. I will admit I wasn't a fan of Apple until the day my aunt bought me the first generation iPod. From digging for CDs to listening to MP3, I must say as a music geek this is the Apple device I have ever loved 6 years later. It's incredible how one man can invent so many things that effect peoples' lives. Steve Jobbs did just that. He will forever be remembered as a visionary, creative, and inspiring legend.
