Apple's new iPhone 4S is the next iteration of the iPhone 4. Its body and screen are identical to that of the iPhone 4, but the new device does feature a slew of upgraded internal features that are sure to get tech junkies excited. Here's a quick breakdown of the iPhone 4S' specs and its new features:
- Release Date: October 14
- Retina Display: Same as the iPhone 4's. You'll no longer need to separate between GSM and CDMA models.
- CPU: A5 Chip Clocked at 1 GHz. This chip supports dual-core graphics and will be able to load graphics seven times faster than the iPhone 4.
- 8 MegaPixel Camera: The camera will be able to take 3364 x 2248 pictures, a 60% pixel boost over the iPhone 4. The 4S also comes with a backside illuminated sensor to allow 73% more light than the iPhone 4. The camera will also take pictures 33% faster than the iPhone4 due to increased shutter speed.
- Video Recording: The iPhone 4S can record videos up to 1080p resolution
- Faster Downloads: The 4S can download at 14.4MBs per second vs. the iPhone 4's 7.2MBs per second
- Intelligent Assistant: Siri, Apple's new virtual "intelligent assistant," uses voice commands to answer questions you ask or perform tasks. For example, you can ask Siri about the weather, have it dictate messages, ask it for directions, have it set reminders, bring up maps, or even talk about the weather. Siri can also send e-mails and text messages.

I'll stick with my iPhone 4. I was all geared up for the iPhone 5, as my upgrade time is almost here. BUt I'm not buying a slightly upgraded iPhone 4. Really disappointing as I was hoping for a much better phone with 4G, a bigger screen, and other cool features. What a letdown. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I have the iPad 1. It's similar to the difference between that and iPad 2. Not enough to upgrade. I'm sure there are a gazillion idiots out there who will upgrade though. I'm sure it will be successful for them, although part of me wants it not to be, just to show them that it's not ok to be so far behind in technology, compared to Android.
Really disappointed... :(

so i got in a car wreak 2 weeks ago and broke my screen just my screen on my iphone 4 upgrading would cost just as much as replacing so for me i really dont see a problem. the lack of an actual redesigned iphone 5 release this time around didnt surprise me but still would love to see what happens next with the iphone but i guess well just see how things go since there are only what 8 games coming out in the next 4 weeks that I need to get.....

im sticking to my windows 7.5 phone, i get a new phone in december but im not going to apple, im either getting the samsung focus S or going back to HTC. For those of you with the iphone 4, why upgrade? all you need to do is upgrade to IOS 5 and there you go, you have most of the features from the iphone 4S.

Cant Attack of the show do a segment about which of the newer phones are better for gadget pron? I have a old phone(not a smart phone) and im looking to upgrade to smart phone status. Im currently with At&t but do not have a contract anymore so im free to go anywhere. Any suggestions? I was planing on getting this new Iphone mainly because of the battery life is great compared to all the androids that people i know have (brother is always charging his). so yea...please.

Time to upgrade from my iPhone 3G to a shiny new 4S. The 3G never did run iOS 4 very well (not enough RAM) and stopped getting upgrades after 4.2.1. I'm glad I waited for the 4S, though, instead of getting the 4 when it came out. That new camera looks really nice. :-)
No 4G? Who cares. I'm on WiFi most of the time, and even the pokey 3G support on my iPhone 3G has been plenty fast, and the 4S is much faster. I don't see any need for 4G speeds, especially given the caps they inevitibly put on data usage.

looks pretty cool, gonna have to find a job of some kind to pay for it though. hopefully it'll be available on verizon as well as AT&T

this is a good upgrade for me since i have the 3GS, and my entire music collection is about 56gb so buying the 64gb model is a plus.
i believe the new iphone was overhyped as everyone was expecting a complete redesign thus the name "iphone 5"

The reason you will want to upgrade eventually is because people will develop with the power of the newer devices in mind.

wow... they are kinda like Nintendo with their gameboy's ... just keep pumping out the same thing almost back to back....isnt there an iphone 5 coming out soon?

So did Apple talk about any corrections to the antenna issue? I have yet to read one thing about it.

Can't ditch my crappy Android quick enough. Goodbye random freezes, slow processor and just generally bad interface. And glad to have it with an unlimited plan on Sprint.

Yeah, I'll just stick with my iPhone 4. I don't know why people feel the need to upgrade to every Apple product as soon as it comes out. I'll wait 2.5 years until my cell contract expires and maybe get an iPhone 6 or maybe get an Android phone. We'll see what happens.
