If you picked up Rage today you already know the game is incredibly beautiful with amazing combat and fantastic AI. What you may not know is, according to Adam Sessler, the game really drops the ball towards the end. That got The Sess thinking about how important it is to stay consistent during the entire gaming experience. On this week's Soapbox Adam discusses how an incredible experience like Rage fell short in the last few hours and why games need to be able to maintain a steady pace with not only the story, but the gameplay, combat, and world design.

I was going to go get it today actually, well, I was hoping some idiot would of bought the game today and then later on sold it back (because they didn't read about it beforehand and it wasn't what they thought or whatever). The reason for this is, I have a 20% off coupon for Gamestop, but it's for pre-owned though, so, I would get $11 off the 54.99. So far there's none yet, good thing, I changed my mind, I think I'll wait until it's much lower.

Sesseler, you are a genius. Please make a game yourself, it would probably be game of the decade.

The way you are describing the ending reminds me of my feelings for Apocalypse Now where you have this whole great lead up to meeting Marlon Brando and then it just kind of drops you off in this dark twisted mindset and leaves you in the end just kind of feeling that it wasn't needed. Never the less I will be playing Rage because it just seems like such great fun, I just thought I would share this.

i think you should start to make video games Adam cause everything you say always make sense, if you start strong you gotta stay strong

well, FO3 had a similar issue with the ending sucking, and they made up for it in DLC. borderlands also had a less then thrilling ending, and still was an amazing game. my point it i hope Rage makes up for it in DLC....im getting Dark Souls today, so Rage will have to wait, but maybe in the summer or something ill pick it up cheap/used and enjoy it. it does look fun. it looks beautiful. i wanna play it, but just dont have the money to get every game that interests me...as it is i already have a whole collection of "maybe ill get it next summer" games lol.

I couldn't post my comment due to G4.com's profanity filter that apparently does not allow you to post something that is COMPLETELY omit of actual profanity and then does not tell you what the offending word was. So... yeah.

Adam Sessler is the most intelligent and rational reviewer on the face of the planet. I'm going to stop going to other websites that provide their hack opinions and go with Sess from now on. The guy is top shelf.

I am not sure if it is consistency or just to have a plan on how it is going to be laid out. Games are becoming more movies every day and they should try to at lease understand the narrative of the story.

Adam has talked about bad endings on Soapbox before, I wonder how long before developers start to do something about it.

Finally preaching what I've been saying for some time now...
