Morning Hangover #71 -- Andrew Looks For Feedback, Patrick Has TV Envy

I have traveled many miles in the rain, without shoes, uphill both ways, just to ask you, the readers, for questions to include on next week's Feedback. Please, don't take this task lightly. Your questions are the future! Next we'll be talking about CoD XP's Rank Up program, Bethesda's legal battles and maybe we'll even throw in some Syndicate, that is if Adam can handle it.

Game of the week will be Rage. Have any questions? Come forth, and ask!

Hello Feedback Crew. Thank you for the slew of videos on informed discussions on video games and the video game community.

My question is about another release this week, Dark Souls, with this game that proudly markets that it will challenge gamers. Could we possibly begin to see other games follow this and begin to make more challenging games that take you to your limits? Hopefully keeping the nice balance From Software has seemed to create that finds clever difficulty, instead of really stupid hard, where your not given the tools to face your hurdle.

What advice would you give to Xbox 360 owners to playing Dark Souls considering they may not have faced a challenge like this? Unlike me who had the pleasure of playing through Demon Souls many times, also I was happy to hear Blair Herter liked Demon Souls, that made my day.

I have both a PS3 and an XBOX 360. I generally get everything for my PS3...Rage I will be getting for my 360...I don't have much space left on my PS3 and I think I would rather have Elder Scrolls and Batman Arkham City for PS3

Rage, as you know, is a BIG boy. Do you think the instal size for PS3 lead people to take the 3 disk option on the Xbox?

If you are primarily a PS3 player, will you make room in your heart (your hard drive) for Rage?

A broader question than the one I posted above:
Gamers always seem to want to divide themselves from one another. Going farther than the idiotic console wars, Rpg players, for example, always look down on Shooter fans, and vice-versa. In a high school setting shooter fans would be the dumb jocks, and Rpg fans would be the obnoxious D&D nerds. Rpg fans, seem to be the most sensitive in this regard, always threatened by the introduction of another genre's mechanics merging with theirs, and always quick to scream Streamlined=Simple=Dumbed down.
Do you feel that all this infighting among the gaming community, is just a reflection of the anti-social tendencies of those that play them? Otherwise, why do you guys think the gaming community is so quick to ostracize members of their own, when the rest of the world lumps us all together as a "sub-culture"?

This thought brought to you by a 19 year old nothing, at the crossroads of his life.

Long time viewer, first time questioner.
It seems to me that there has become a pejorative in the term "Hardcore Gamer," among other gamers, that seem to feel that they are apart from it. I believe, they feel it applies only to those who play CoD, and other, what they would call "mindless" shooters.
To me the term "Hardcore gamer" leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I much prefer "Core Gamer," unsure if they even imply different connotations. And I would categorize anyone who plays games as their primary hobbie, for extended periods of time, as such; but even then it excludes, social and, decidedly, casual gaming, which many people play obsessively.
So, what how do you guys define "Hardcore/ Core Gamer," and do you feel you're a part of it?

Do the questions have to be about Rage?

If not, I was wondering what you guys thought about MW3 and BF3, but let me elaborate a bit more!

The Battlefield 3 open beta came out today. Many people are saying it's not good enough, although it's just a beta with one map and one game mode.

At the same time, many people in the community, and professionals, are bad talking Modern Warfare 3 for it's major lack of innovation and even backwards steps in multiplayer. It seems like a Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer with changes to the killstreaks and weapon proficieny, that's it! The campaign's story hasn't even been discussed, even though it's the third part of the series. I wonder if they'll get everything together since IW was split up long ago and they brought in two other developers to help out the team. The chances of MW3 releasing a beta is slim to none. On top of that, every youtube video of MW3 has been met with massive negative criticism and dislikes, while BF3 has had tons of positive criticism. Then the beta comes out and people are saying DICE hyped up the game.

I know the community can be fickle, which is why I'm asking the professionals.

With "ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection" recently released, are there any other underrated games from years' past that you'd like to see given a second chance with an HD remake?
