I Am Alive "Comeback" Gameplay Trailer »

When last we heard of Ubisoft's I Am Alive, a surprise ESRB rating revealed that the game was still in existence. The third-person action game in which a man struggles to save his family in a post-apocalyptic nightmare has been a bit of a mystery since it was revealed at E3 2008, but now we know it's officially coming to PSN and Xbox Live Arcade this winter.

“We know people have been waiting for this game to arrive, and we believe it’s going to be worth the wait,” said Ubisoft’s marketing director Adam Novickas. “I Am Alive presents a unique take on the postapocalyptic, survival genre by creating more complex and emotional situations for the player. Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network are the perfect platforms to leverage the mature and challenging experiences of the game.”

I am surprised to see that it is being released this winter. That means until the end of February of course, although actually, in February would be a great time for me :) I'll be nearing the end of my Dark Souls/Skyrim time, and have a month to go before ME3 and B:Infinite. It's strange however because I thought this game was basically dead. It had been so long since I heard anything that I figured it was another interesting looking title that got scrapped.

I don't know if I am thrilled with the Download only however. Were it a full release, I would feel more trusting that the content is good enough (and long enough). Since it is a DL, I am now nervous that the game will end up surprisingly short. The cost is obviously going to be a huge factor. I waited until 'Borderlands' was $20 and I knew I'd love that game, and also knew it would last me a very long time. I am iffy about 'I am Alive' in the first place. Reviews will definitely be in order before making a purchase now.

the gameplay looks pretty cool, but why are there so many games with a "wasteland" setting now? it starting to grow old. I don't want to see enemies with Mohawks and football shoulder pads anymore, mad max was so 80's

I'm so glad this game is going to come out. I had fears that it was doomed after we hadn't heard anything in quite awhile.

I'm happy this game is finally coming out. And I think Ubisoft is smart for releasing it on XBLA/PSN instead of as a retail, full priced game. Like TheBradleyB touched on, it's an extremely competitive Christmas this year with all sorts of high profile games coming out. And while they've had 3-4 years to work on the game, I'm pretty sure this game is still rough around the edges. It's been tossed around between developers, had numerous problems and it was basically a dead game until just recently. And with basically no time for hype this game, at full retail, would have bombed.

But as a Downloadable Title I think this game will actually do well. Maybe I'm alone on this but I'd forgive a lot of problems if the game was 10-15 bucks instead of 60. I mean if the game is crap, it's crap but I do like what I've seen (all 5 or so minutes) so far and I'll definitely pick it up if the price is right

I think it's a mistake to release it this winter. I really do.

Now I like the fact that it didn't have a 1 Year Hype Media Blitz like ME3 kind has had (which has died down a little thank god. I've got me CE Pre-Ordered I just don't want to hear about every single detail 9 months before it's release)

So I like the fact that it's release and all the major news about it are so close but I think this Winter is a BAD time to do it.

I mean all Developers release in Winter because they have a notion that only Children buy Video Games and Thus need that 'Holiday Money/Gifts' to get the expensive video games they want.

But these games aren't for children and the Average Age of a gamer is 23 and many more gamers are between 25-38 years old. So these games should be spread out through the year since it's easier to spend 60 bucks every 2-3 months then it is to spend 180 in 3 weeks.

I mean let's list some PC/360/PS3 Titles coming out in 'Holiday Season' (10/11-02/12)

    Modern Warfare 3
    Battlefield 3
    Batman: AC
    AC: Revelations
Apparently some NBA 2K11 game (do they know there isn't going to be a season?)
    Rage
    Dark Souls
    Elder Scrolls
    Uncharted 3
    SR The 3rd
    Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom
WWE (I do miss Wrestling. The over the top Storylines just kind of bored me at a while though)
Red Dead Redemption Game of The Year
    DR2 - Off The Record
    Golden Eye 007: reloaded
    Metal Gear Solid HD
    RE: Operation Racoon City
    NeverDead
    Prey 2
    BioShock: Infinite
    Darkness 2
    Jurassic Park
    Star Wars The Old Republic

And even in March we've got Boderlands 2, Max Payne 3, ME3 and Darkness 2

My Point is that despite some of these games not being anything like 'I Am Alive' they will still take money away from the game. Now some people will drop all the money for 5-7 of these titles maybe. I won't be able to. I know some people who will not be able to get more then 3 games and if they do get a 3rd game it's most likely because the Wife/Girlfriend made them use it for a X-Mas Gift.

AC: Revelations and Golden Eye are two games that I'm interested in that I won't be getting because I already know I want MW3, Batman: AC and ME3. Maybe BF3 as well depending on the Beta.

Now since it's an XBL/PSN game I assume it'll be 30 Bucks or Less but that's still steep and with it being digital download I guess they don't have to worry about it dropping 30 Percent on the Price (like most Single Player games do a week after release) but gamers won't be able to trade it in and thus they'll either wait until it hits discount or much after they've played all the other games coming out.

Games marked towards March and beyond I think will have a better chance at getting Mature gamers because by that time people will have played a lot of their Holiday Titles and be comfortable/wanting to trade them in and when they do they'll most likely turn to a new/upcoming game.

I mean I know if I don't get a game new I have a habit of forgetting it existed. I just now bought Perfect Dark Zero for 3 Bucks off eBay. It's a Bad Game. I still can't believe XBL is charging 20 Bucks for that Garbage and it was one of the first titles released for the Xbox 360 I believe.

Way to be a little slow on this story. But seeing as how british game sites have the time zone advantages that G4 seemingly doesn't, I'll let it slide (though my question, where's the new trailer that was released?). Been looking forward to any new information about this for awhile. Now I'm glad to hear this is finally coming, and is coming this winter. Now I have another game to look forward to this fall (if it actually releases, though I would not be shocked if this gets delayed into 2012).
