Shocking moments are one of my favorite parts about playing games. I love playing a story when everything gets turned upside down on me. Whether it's gut-wrenching emotional moment like in Final Fantasy VII or a truly evocative set-piece like in Call of Duty 4, shocking moments make the games much more engaging and ultimately fun. Just today, I got to a part in Gears 3 that was the most shocking moment I've seen...I can't spoil though.
But I did also like the ending of AC2 where Minerva talks to Desmond through Ezio a few hundred years ago.

The "Thousand Cuts" level from Kane and Lynch: Dog Days was...interesting.
Far Cry 2, the Jackal's "real" reason for being there was cool.
Going to the surface anytime in Metro 2033 does for me though. Can't wait for the sequel.

How about the ending of F.E.A.R. 2 when Alma rapes you while you fight that other guy? I felt so violated after that game. Definately shocking.
