id Software's Rage is an ambitious monster-packed shooter will come on three discs for the 360 and require an 8 GB install on the PlayStation 3 and a whopping 25 GB install on the PC.
"We recommend installing the game to the hard drive, but you don't need to install all three discs," creative director Tim Willits said of the 360 version. "If you don't have the space available on your hard drive, don't stress. Install the first disc, the first chapter, the first half of the game, then when you're done, uninstall and install disc two. You don't really need to install the multiplayer disc if you're really tight on hard disk space."
The PlayStation 3 version will come on one disc, but will require an 8 GB install. While certainly time consuming initially, the installation will allow you to enjoy a very attractive Rage. Apparently, the 8GB install isn't business-as-usual for the PS3.
"Sony was great. Kudos to Sony for letting us do that," Willits said. "They don't allow every game to do that. So definitely, hats off... What we were able to do is install all the textures to the highest level. What is nice about the PS3 platform is that it's just one platform. Everyone has one Blu-ray drive, one hard drive, it's all the same. Some of the other systems you have... should I install it on my 360? Should I not install it? So yes, it's very nice."
Obviously, if you're playing on a hardcore PC, you need to meet Rage's system requirements with your rig, but if you have to choose between console versions, which will you pick? Personally, my default is the 360 these days, especially for multiplayer. I like the achievement system better, and most of the people I game with are on the 360. But that's just my opinion. What do you think?

I'm happy everyone can make a big deal out of nothing, they're both small inconveniences when you get down to it. Stop complaining and just play your games.
Swaping disks isn't hard and can lead to a sense of accomplishment when you get to the next disk.
Installing the game only has to be done once and can give you time to read a book or study for a few midterms you have coming up.

I usually pick the 360 for the multiplayer and achievements but for some reason I think this game will look better on the PS3 so I might get it for that reason. If its confirmed that they look similar, I'll get it for 360 but if not, PS3 it is.

Didn't G4 post this last month except they said you have install all 3 discs as in it's all or nothing? This is a contradiction so what's right? Anyway if I do end up getting this (I'm still mad at ID for breaking promises year after year) I honestly would not mind switiching dics. Unlike lazy PS3 fanboys I am capable of taking less than a minute to switch.

I really don't see why people have such issues with swaping disks. Yes PS3 uses Blu-Ray but requires installation. 360 Uses DVD9's [Dual Layers for those who are like huh??] and is limited space wise. Though installing on to the Xbox360 allows for faster gameplay and so on. So what if you need to change disks. It looks amazing and from what I have seen and read is going to be a kick ass game. Thats really all that should matter....not "OMG ITS ON 1 BLURAY NEERRRRRRRR"

Have all of you become that lazy, have u forgotten the good old day's of the PS1 and final fantasy, any good RPG that use's more then one disk is going to be EPIC, and RAGE is gearing to be one of those epic games, so it is sad to read you guy/girl's complaining bout having to get off your butt's and having to change a disk, ether PS3 or Xbox the game is going to be godly so no more tear's PLZ

Passing on this for UNCHARTED 3. Which looks way better then RAGE and is only on ONE disc again for PS3 as well as BF3. Also think its hilarious these guys are defending swapping discs, IT SUCKS PLAIN AND SIMPLE!! And why is everyone surprised gears 3 sold so well, its the only exclusive that has come out this year for 360!! They are starving for some exclusive content. And im not talking KINECT stuff those arent games. Still want to play GEARS though!
By the way, this whole "everything takes forever to download or install on ps3" is NOT true. I dont have the best internet and it does not take long at all to download games. As far as the installs go, big deal. Its a 1 time thing go smoke a bowl while you wait or bang your wife (well dont know about the rest of you but i have a wife, lol)

true the 360 has better multiplayer, you have to go through such a hassle to download the game 25 gig plus three disc wooooow( in my flavor flave voice) o yeah after receiving this news i quickly reserved for the ps3.. good thing i own both consoles. so brag about your multiplayer domination on the 360, but you will never buy a game for the ps3 that requires 3 freakin discs to play it.

I love that this story is up, now that I know what to expect when I get the game but come on. Any time when the post ends with "What do you think?" it's obviously just asking fro trouble, and starting a flame war. I know that may not be the intended purpose, but that always ends up being the result.

I have mulitiple RPG's on 360 that have more than one disc. How else will I get in my exercise time (ha, ha!) I downloaded INFAMOUS via the PSN network and it took 4-6hrs to upload from their network and I'm running 20+mbs. It was a 7.5GB install. Multiple discs, is well worth the price.

I feel like we've known this forever. Because I talked about how ME2 and L.A. Noire didn't bother me in regards to being multiple discs. WTF is this being reported again?
