Trion Worlds has announced that their free-to-play MMORTS End of Nations will launch in 2012. In End of Nations you make a character on one of two factions and battle with your upgradeable units via RTS objectives across a persistent world map. Some maps can hold two teams of up to 26 players, meaning there could be some crazy epic battles between a staggering 52 people going on within the game.
The good news is that the FTP element of the game won't give players a competitive edge. The microtransactions in EoN will be limited to aesthetic upgrades like unit skin colors. "It is not a pay to win game," Trion community manager Lance James said.
End of Nations will be entering a beta before it launches in 2012, so be sure to keep your eyes out for that if you're in the mood for a well made RTS.
