The Star Wars: The Old Republic release date has been revealed, and it's December 20th, 2011 (December 22nd in Europe). Announced during the keynote address at the Eurogamer Expo, Bioware Docs Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have finally made Star Wars gamers happy and their spouses incredibly sad as they lose their loved ones during the Christmas holiday. There will be an early access period for those that pre-order SWTOR as well.
"In 1977, Lucasfilm created magic with the release of Star Wars. Our goal is to capture some of that magic when we go live with Star Wars: The Old Republic on December 20," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder, BioWare and General Manager, BioWare Label. "This is an incredible moment for everyone at BioWare and our partners at LucasArts who have dedicated so much of their lives to building this extraordinary game."
Added Dr. Greg Zeschuk, Co-Founder, BioWare and General Manager of the MMO Business Unit of BioWare, "We appreciate the patience of the millions of fans who have been waiting for the game's release. When we launch this groundbreaking MMO with world class storytelling this holiday season, we hope you will agree that it was worth the wait."
Interestingly enough, Blizzard recently announced that its PC RPG, Diablo 3, would not ship this year. I'm not saying that this announcement was a direct result of the Diablo 3 delay , but I'm saying I'd be surprised if the Diablo III release date didn't weigh into EA's decision.
So now we can shift all our release date angst back towards The Last Guardian. What other announced games do you want a release date for?

anti cheat applications to this and they have me sold @ 14.99 a month need something to replace wow cause after cata wows boring i have all lvl 85 teir gear and several lvl 85's and this is gonna be sick wonder if i can go darth maul and dual weild red light sabers XD bad asss!!!

Right when I thought it would be. Bioware has been saying for a long time now that it would be before the end of the year, I figured they would released just before Christmas. The wait will be worth it though, theyve still been making a lot of changes throughout the different builds of the beta.

Wow, what's with all the release date news? Last Guardian might be next...Tuesday would be a good time due to the PS3 collection being released. I'm sure if the collection sells well, Last Guardian will be put on the front-burner. Sony and money go together like, uh... Sony and security breaches.
