Risk: Metal Gear Solid. It's officially a thing. Konami has partnered with Hasbro and USAOPOLY to release a new themed version of Risk based on Hideo Kojima's enduringly popular stealth/action game series. A press release confirms that pre-sales will launch on USAOPOLY's website on October 3, with the board game priced at $50.
In addition to standard Risk rules, the game also includes two additional rulesets that more specifically nod to the source material. The custom map's 42 territories are broken in to six zones, and the set also includes five different PMC armies, neutral armies and cities, an Outer Haven battleship (which can engage in sneak attacks) and a variety of cards (including something called "Drebin's Cards," a nod to MGS4's arms dealer).
You can see the game box art up top, but personally, I think it would have been a stroke of genius to make the packaging look like a generic cardboard box. Just saying.

The cardboard box thing would've been great, but it would also have been too easy for people to steal it then, and we don't want that.

Got to see this at GenCon. The game was really awesome. It plays a lot like Risk 2210 (Minus the 5 turn limit crap) if you ever got the opportunity to play that.

Finally a MGS entry that doesn't end in a 3 hour cut scene. Instead, the whole game lasts 6 hours and everyone is just as bored.

Being both a Risk and Metal Gear fan, this is possibly one of the best board game ideas of all time!
