Electronic Arts has been very clear about its intention of kicking some holiday ass this year in the release showdown between its own Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Microsoft frequently touts its "first on Xbox Live" exclusivity with the Activision series' DLC, and now Sony will be able to do the same for the EA game.
DICE confirmed in a PlayStation Blog post that "all full-blown upcoming expansion packs for the game will appear one week early exclusively on PS3." So that's happening. It's a much slimmer lead than the month-or-so that Call of Duty fans wait. Probably a smart move on EA's part to avoid pissing off Xbox 360 and PC gamers TOO much.
The initiative will kick off with the Back to Karkand map pack, which is included for free with all pre-order purchases of the game. There's no word on whether the pre-order bonus folks will have to wait as well, but the DLC will be released for purchase one month after the game's October 25 launch.

Just a week? Big deal. Even if the DLC exclusivity last months, I would still get the PC version of Battlefield 3 since it's the best version.

Timed DLC is ghey no matter how you cut it.

Im a ps3 player and I don't care if we get the DLC first or if the other console got the DLC first. I mean we are still getting it regardless.

1 week isnt S!!t compared to 1 MONTH.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
What are you thinking EA?
PS3 pre-orders in the US are 280k
360 pre-orders in the US are 670k
Now who's your sugar daddy?

Wow, this would be great news if I actually played games on my PS3.

Since I have a PS3, Xbox 360 AND a PC, I don't really care which one gets it first.

I think the main point of this whole thing is because EA hates Activision I mean they are suing each other, Xbox signed with Activision early so it makes Xbox look like the bad guy in a sense so EA is going with ps3 for a week. Just my opinion.

Maybe now PS3 players will stop complaining about xbox getting CoD DLC first. Their non stop complaining gets old after awhile.

I thought Battlefield 3 comes out on the 25th of October not the 27th. Every place I look for Battlefield 3 says the offical release date it the 25 of october

Better a week then a Month

Both of these games have their origins on the PC, and yet the PC is the platform that gets screwed again and again when it comes to both Battlefield and Call of Duty. Remember where you came from!

This is complete BS. They were suppose to be doing everything for PC first, not the PS3.

As a 360 owner who is pretty sure he's going to get Battlefield this isn't too much of a deal for me. Only because it is just a week. With CoD on 360 isn't it like a 3 month exclusive?
I am happy for PS3 players I guess. I mean Sony has been very good on creating their own PS exclusive Titles but when it comes to 3rd Party games they drop the ball a lot allowing MS to capitalize on things.
I'm a little shocked it's only a week. I wonder how much money was exchanged (or marketing). I assume a small amount for only a week.

It's funny to see people saying "it doesn't really matter" now, when they praise the MS for getting most content first. I see this as a good move by Sony. Getting is only a week early is still forgivable though to 360 and PC owners. Waiting a month is kinda ridiculous, but hell, I hate all "exclusive timed" dlc because it makes me wonder if I'm getting the full game I paid for. Like if you didn't buy the Limited edition of Black Ops you didn't get the old World at War Zombie maps until now.
DLC Exclusion/Firsties should stop all together, but it's will always give the edge to the holder of it. When we get a full game without having to pay for dlc. I'm sure most of it is planned before the game is released but they hold out to make people pay.

Wow. A whole week? Really? One week isn't going to change someone who own's both system's mind. I don't care about FPS DLC because its overpriced anyway. Thats just my personal opinion so don't take it to heart but I thought maybe they would include a DLC bundle pack at a reduced price or something if I wait long enough. Last time I check the stimulus map pack for mw2 was still $15...

Yeah but I'm not going to go out and buy a new system because it has DLC on a system first. Like cardinalsfan said, if you're a die-hard, you'll wait. It all comes down to who has the better community overall. I have both a PS3 and 360 but I'll be getting it on my 360. A wait for DLC doesn't bother me, especially since I'm usually broke. This whole "We have DLC first!!" is childish and pathetic and if that's what it takes to gain fans, then it's weak. Come on Sony and Microsoft, let's grow up.

Honestly, I couldn't give a damn about Call of Duty DLC at all, let alone early.
Battlefield DLC is what i want. ^_^

doesn't it come out on the 25th?
