EA has revealed some surprisingly reasonable system specs required for the PC version of Battlefield 3. If you've seen the graphics from BF3 you'll know that the game looks absolutely stunning, so it's pretty interesting that the recommended system requirements aren't actually too brutal. Check em out:
RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- OS: WINDOWS 7 64-BIT
- PROCESSOR: QUAD-CORE CPU
- MEMORY: 4 GB
- HARD DRIVE: 20 GB
- GRAPHICS CARD: DIRECTX 11 COMPATIBLE WITH 1024 MB RAM (NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 OR ATI RADEON (6950)
- SOUND CARD: DIRECTX COMPATIBLE
- KEYBOARD AND MOUSE
- DVD ROM DRIVE

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- OS: WINDOWS VISTA (SERVICE PACK 2) 32-BIT
- PROCESSOR: 2 GHZ DUAL CORE (CORE 2 DUO 2.4 GHZ OR ALTHON X2 2.7 GHZ)
- MEMORY: 2 GB
- HARD DRIVE: 20 GB
- GRAPHICS CARD (AMD): DIRECTX 10.1 COMPATIBLE WITH 512 MB RAM (ATI RADEON 3000, 4000, 5000 OR 6000 SERIES, WITH ATI RADEON 3870 OR HIGHER PERFORMANCE)
- GRAPHICS CARD (NVIDIA): DIRECTX 10.0 COMPATIBLE WITH 512 MB RAM (NVIDIA GEFORCE 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 OR 500 SERIES WITH NVIDIA GEFORCE 8800 GT OR HIGHER PERFORMANCE)

I honestly thought that this game was going to be a lot more demanding on my system, so this is pretty cool. I haven't played a PC game since The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings that has shown my gaming PC's full potential, so I'm really happy that I'll get to see BF3 in its full glory when it comes out on October 25. If you can't wait until then to try out the game, keep in mind that the Battlefield 3 beta kicks off on September 29.

Looks like I'll have to upgrade my graphics but thats it :) I guess my PSU as well but thats not bad. I currently have an ATI 2600 XT card which misses the mark but everything else is fine. The easiest is just buy it for my PS3 or 360. I wonder if they squeezed everything out of the PS3...hmmm

XP is such garbage anyhow, I'm glad someone in the industry is forcing people to drop that relic of an OS. Vista was pretty meh, but 7 is the real deal.

yup my PC can handle it. almost exactly except i have two 560s in SLI, and i plan on upgrading my AMD 1100T to the new 8 core bulldozer. but even then, ill be getting this on PS3. like 4-1Mack said. i have more friends who play this on PS3 then i do on PC and i love playing TDM with them so PS3 it is. ill keep my PC for Skyrim :)

I kinda saw this coming, I have everything except the graphics card. I remember because When I played the Alpha Beta of this game, I was looking at crap :(, Ati Radeon Hd 4650. I have to upgrade, I mean, yea I can still play the game, but I don't want to lag while looking down the scope. Get what I'm saying? Damn.

Ok, I see they changed it to ATI 6950. While I can handle that, that's not exactly cheap; but this is about what I expected on the recommended requirements. Still & all, I could run Crysis 2 butter smooth with a 6850, & that games looks gorgeous. Will Battlefield 3 be that much better looking than Crysis 2?

According to the community manager and this site recommended is medium settings. 580's in sli to max it.
