Ladies and gentlemen the fiery gates leading to the Burning Hells have opened and after over a ten year wait, the Diablo 3 closed beta test is officially underway. I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to finally get my hands on to this (still PC/Mac exclusive) game, and I wish all of you the best of luck getting in to the beta test.
Blizzard is selecting players who have opted in for the beta via their Battle.net account, so be sure to opt in if you want a chance to play. If you want to get technical, the beta test is actually an opportunity for Blizzard to test their server stability and hardware, for the action RPG, but let's be honest, it's really the first chance that the general public is going to be able to get their hands on the game.
If you're chosen for the beta, you'll be able to try out all five of the character classes in the game (Monk, Wizard, Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Witch Doctor). You'll be able to play from the very start of the game all the way through the Skeleton King encounter. You'll meet new and returning characters in New Tristram like the awesomely named Leah, as well as familiar faces like Deckard Cain.
The PVP arena is not going to be available in the beta, so you won't get to try that out. But seriously, let's not focus on the bad news right now. It's time to get that index finger ready, because you're going to be click click clicking a lot over the next few years. Get to it!
If chosen, how are you going to be spending your time in the Diablo 3 beta? I am going to try all the classes but probably go with a Wizard first followed by a Witch Doctor.
