Well. This is awkward. Gearbox Software wants your feedback on Duke Nukem Forever, by way of a newly launched survey. While the game is not without its defenders, the response by and large to the 15-years-in-the-making first-person shooter has largely been a negative one. Personally, I haven't played it yet. Based on the general tenor of Duke Nukem Forever reviews, however, Gearbox had best brace itself.
The survey can be found on the developer's website, opening with a note that encourages everyone -- whether or not you've played the game -- to participate. The survey questions are pretty standard. You're able to submit it anonymously, though the first page offers entry into a Gearbox swag drawing for those who provide a name and e-mail address. I would encourage anyone who played the game to participate; Duke probably isn't dead, and Gearbox is clearly still hoping to do right by him.

Hello, I never played Duke Nukem Forever, but I have seen game play footage, walkthroughs online, and etc.
Anyways, I thought that DUke Nukem can use more improvement, but the little sexual innuendo made me crack a smile at rare times in the beginning, but some of the jokes were a little...too obvious, just a little force. The game play looked really like it was from the the 2003-2008, not the cutting edge technology of the 21st century, but then again, I have never played the game. I did like the fact that it was a action shooter type of game and it seemed it was 1st person, until he goes into a car, which was unexpected kind of cute (if you think that's the appropriate word), and when he turned small sometimes, I just didn't like it.
I did not like the plot of the game, if I know if it is accurate. There is an alien invasion and they steal the "hot babes" of the world, so Duke, a conceited man, goes to protect the world and his country. Correct me if I am wrong. I am...horribly disgusted on how you design the woman of the game, and was offended since I am a woman. They looked like, excuse my language, whores. I was disturbed when they where in this cave thingy and the woman were hanged on the cave walls, naked. I was disgusted and just disappointed on how you pictured woman in this. Though, the creativity was up there, It was nothing I expect because, I must confess, I am a COD player, but it doesn't mean COD is the only game I like. The boss fights were rather confusing, more so the fighting. It looked a bit glitched sometimes.
I did love the voice of Duke Nukem. It was well played, even though Duke is an arrogant, conceited player. Overall, I would give the game a solid C because I could name a couple of more games that are worse than Duke Nukem. Hopefully, you will listen to the crictism and maybe make another Duke Nukem or another game that will be a relief from some of our disappointment

Yeah...Gearbox hit a bump in the road with this game, but who really cares? We got Aliens: Colonial Marines and (hopefully) Borderlands 2 coming out next year. I'm pretty sure those games aren't gonna suck. Not every developer is perfect, and most have had at least 1 or 2 crappy games, i can easily forgive Randy Pitchford for this.

For the life of me I really do not understand what the developers were thinking here. How hard is it to make an alien invasion based FPS these days? Some of the issues of this game, like the graphics, I would have accepted if the game play was entertaining. Unimaginative level design and frustrating controls made the whole experience a chore. What I hated the most was sitting there waiting for what seemed like forever while a level loaded just to have about thirty seconds of play before dying and than waiting all over again. I gave up half way through and honestly this game is so bad it felt like a practical joke on the audience who had been waiting for it.

In my opinion, I think the main game-killer was the simple fact that it took a decade and a half to get this game out there. I have faith that if gearbox or whomever really wants to release a Duke title, provided they have the right ideas for it, Duke can live again. The main thing that sets Duke Nukem apart from Halo, CoD, etc. is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. And I think that was one of the many factors that led to the doom of Duke Nukem: Forever.

Lets talk about this game, lets talk about this game and whatit could have been and what it was..... Yes, I see why many people do not like it for being a hyped up game that was released, in my opinion... Not all the way finished.
Yeah, the game controls -were- bad at times they made the game difficult to play. At other times it even seemed that the graphics were purposfully trying to make you cringe, especially after seeing the many girls that look EXACTLY the same over and over again.
Now, look at it in the point of... this game in itself -is- a parody. Duke-nukem has always been a volly of sensual satire that appeals to a small audiance. If you have played the games from recent years than you would come to understand and accept this. Now, as comments have said before... yes, times have changed and people have different tastes in comedy. HOWEVER, this only lead for gearbox to have to.... "Up the anty" so to say and make some of the jokes more racey because sexual things are taken MUCH lighter now as opposed to before.
Now lets talk about the voice acting and about the "One liners".... Gotta say that THIS was the one thing that made me play the game almost completely through. I just wanted to hear what duke would say at any given moment. Something about slapping breasts made out of the side of a hive wall while girls are being impregnated alien style makes me giggle, hearing him say horrible one liners along with the classic ones, it was vastly entertaining. The voice acting was good, wonderful at times. I felt like I was watching an action movie the entire time I played and -that- is what duke is all about.
Now, am I defending the game or am I talking bad about it? I am doing both, you can't look at a game for what it COULD have been you look at the game for what it is. If you played it on X-box you will hate it alot more than if you played it on the PC, that is for sure. THe control scheme is clunky compared to on the PC, PC users... love it.
So, my ten cents is this... It was a game inbetween good and bad, graphics were both horrid and at some points really good. The comedy ((In my opinion)) Was rather tasteful for the series itself and the voices were wonderfully done.
Don't compare games to other games, compare to how much fun you have playing it.

Having been a fan of the Duke Nukem series since the first Duke Nukem. I'm am disappointed and appalled that I have played the first 15 minutes of this game. It is by far the worst piece of trash that I have ever played and I actually sat down and played Superman 64 all the way through to the end.

Duke was just not funny. I don't care if it's misogynistic or whatever, but the jokes seemed like they were just trying to be provocative by being crude, except that they weren't funny. It's like they thought that saying something crude is funny in and of itself. I swear like a sailor, so maybe I'm just not impressed by someone saying something "uncouth" without any thought or humor in it. To make things worse, the game just felt off. I can't exactly quantify it, but the mechanics just did not feel good at all; the original Halo felt better and that game IS a decade old. Being more clunky than a decade old game is not something to aspire to. Don't even try to compare it to anything newer.
I enjoy crass humor and mindless shooters as much as the next guy, but this was just bad at both.

Took it....hoping the next duke game is awesome!

This is by far the most honest thing a developer can do for a dying series.
BONERJAM
I only played the demo but it was obvious to me that the graphics were bad, the controls weren't very good, the gameplay wasn't anything thrilling, it felt outdated, had terrible AI and generally just wasn't any fun to play.
TheSledBaron
I wish they had a Brothers in Arms Hells Highway survey. I could have written 50 pages on why I was so disappointed with that stupid game.

Hey Gearbox:
The game
-sucks
-uses dated mechanics
-and is possibly really, really, misogynistic/offensive.
I think that sums it up.

I can't believe Gearbox is wasting money on this--throwing good money after bad.
And who exactly wants to see Duke Nukem resurrected? (beside Gearbox who probably got all of Duke for practically nothing, so any money they made would be pure profit). For 10+ years it was a running gag in the industry whom I'd bet sold more on nostalgia (recently) than on any of its (missing) merits. But the thing about memory and nostalgia is it's never as good as we remember.
Times have changed. Tastes have changed. Technology has changed. And ultimately, the bar for video games (even bad ones) has rising much higher.
Besides, if game developers are itching to dig up games from the past, why not get a good game like Grim Fandango (or similar) to make? You know, an actually good game.
permanent_nirvana
I give the survey an hour before Gearbox shuts it down from all of the negative feedback.

Why can't all Companies do Well I Know some do but for most part for games that didn't do so well
yogi_bear_rules
duke nukem was a great game because its an action shooter and doesn't pretend its anything else. why does everyone automatically expect realistic weapons, boring camp gameplay and easy gameplay to hold your hand the entire way through? i still blame cod for ruining shooters since 2005.
