Gears of War 3 is out today, as the more bleary-eyed among you who went out for the game's midnight launch last night are no doubt aware. A "Season Pass" offered in connection with the release long ago confirmed that at least four DLC offerings will be released over the next year. Now, Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski has offered some hints about what we might expect from it.
"We have some DLC that's coming up. We've confirmed we'll be doing campaign DLC," Bleszinski said in an interview with The Telegraph. From the sound of things, the story-driven extension won't necessarily be traveling to the expected familiar places.
"One thing I can tell you is that you're not going to see Marcus or Dom or Cole in it. I believe that DLC should be unique and cool, like [GTA IV's] Lost and the Damned [and] Gay Tony, [and Borderlands'] Mad Moxie's Underdome Riot."
That's all he would reveal, but it's certainly enough to make that $30 season pass -- which is essentially a DLC pre-order package covering the upcoming year -- seem like more of a worthwhile buy for the serious fans.

I hope they put the PJD trike in the DLC.. that thing was sick and deserves some screen time.

Why must we always complain about added content. "Muuuhhhaaa....I have to pay extra to get more gameplay than the 9 hour campaign offers" (sniffles) "Whaaaaa...why do I have to pay more for all of these random skins for my gun..." I'm sure the same people that complain about paying $60 for all of the content currently available, possibly over the next year mind you, are the same people that were willing to pay for countless expansions for World of Warcraft on top of a monthly subscription. I can almost guarantee that all the content that Epic provides is going to be well worth the price tag. Also, stop whining that you have to pay to have a lancer with a pink daisy on the side, you should have to pay for that...in many ways.

The game just came out today and already there's dlc talk. Basically they're saying we made all this content for the game but we thought it was all worth more than 60 dollars so we held it out of the initial release and will charge you for it later. I swear it's coming, we're going to have to buy a core game for 60 bucks and pay for season passes to continue the story. Oh wait it's already here.

Love this game... I bought the limited edition last night... Little did I know when I got home I was going to spend ANOTHER 60 bucks on DL for season pass & Gun skins!

Had to stop playing an hour ago. My stomach is no longer my friend. But who cares. This game is effing amazing!
As far as the DLC is concerned, campaign specific DLC is an awesome idea. Anything that lets me play this game more is a welcome addition.
