According to a report from Siliconera, Neku from the amazing Nintendo DS title The World Ends With You will be featured in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. That is so freaking awesome!
Up until now Kingdom Hearts has only included characters from the Final Fantasy series and Disney characters, so to see the development team stepping out and expanding to other amazing Square Enix games is very welcome. Like Kingdom Hearts, TWEWY was also conceptualized by Tetsuya Nomura, so it's not too much of a step outside of their comfort zone.
We're not sure to what length Neku will be included in the game, but from what Siliconera played in their Tokyo Game Show demo you'll meet Neku in Traverse Town with Sora as he's trying to find his old buddy Riku.
I'm pretty excited to hear this unexpected news! What other surprises do you think Kingdom Hearts 3D will hold, and what other characters would you like to see?

I hope Shiki appears too as I loved her in TWEWY. I'd love to see some characters from Dragon Quest 8 ( Jessica please! ), Chrono Trigger and Valkyrie Profile as well as Aya from Parasite Eve cameo in some capacity in the series.
Disney-wise, they need to use Gargoyles, Darkwing Duck, Kim Possible, Toy Story, Incredibles, Phineas & Ferb and maybe the Marvel Universe for worlds in a KH game.

My issue is the fact these games are so spread out over different consoles. is there any chance in the future that you'll be able to sit down, and play through all the KH games without having to change consoles or charge something up?
Also, I don't get why they took such a break from the main storyline games. KH could have been a real force of a franchise.

ugh, the handheld games are NOT side stories! Just because they do not feature the idiot Sora does not make them a side story. Birth By Sleep (In fact, Nomura has called Birth By Sleep KH0) and KH3D are two key games for KH3. We need to know what's going to happen in KH3 to get a KH3 in the first place. 358/2 Days explained a lot of what's going on. And if you think Chain of Memories was useless, then just stop playing KH. About the only useless game was Coded. But they made that game really quick because it was for a cellphone. RE:Coded didn't take long either as they just slapped 358/2 Days' engine on it and the game wasn't very thought out either as far as what you do. If you think these handheld games are useless, then stop playing KH or don't bother to keep up with it anymore. True fans of the series love each game and actually understand it. So once KH3 comes out, you'll have no clue as to what is happening.

as long as they don't bring High School Musical into the mix. ill still trust them. But they better start Kingdom Hearts 3. I'm sick of all the stupid handheld spin-offs.

I'm down for all kingdom hearts games, but they really need to stop with all these side stuff on handhelds already and after that we could expect a release HD remakes of 1 and 2 like they did with God of War and Shadow of the Colossus/ ICO.... soooo I'm gonna shoot that they might do the next main console one (KH3) by 2014 or 2015 if we're lucky
