Want to be a video game composer? Games are nothing without their soundtracks, and these soundtracks often become iconic music for gamers that stay with them long after they've put the controllers down. Composer Inon Zur talks about what it takes to score a video games, and how many different things you need to know going in to that career.

What is it with people in the video game industry having awesome names? Inon Zur is a pretty badass name, and he also worked on the Power Rangers, so how can you fault this guy? He's also worked on Fallout 3, Prince of Persia, and the Dragon Age series, so this guy definitely knows what he's talking about. Scoring video games is very different than scoring for films, he explains, and it's important that you also play games. For you budding musicphiles out there who want to play both instruments and the latest titles, this might be exactly what you're looking for.

Thanks for this! As a composer wanting to break into the industry myself, I've been hoping to find something, no matter how short, that has an actual VG composer talking about what's good to know if this is a path you want to take. This is the only vid I've come across that does that, and while short, it was something I needed to see :)

Well said Sessler, for me the whole weight ordeal about The Wicther 2 makes me particularly upset. This would have been fine if there we're a place to store items but there is not. How can a game that has an advanced crafting system + item weight, not have a storage place? It alienates the crafting system in the game because players don't know/have what they will/do need. I just sell all my crafting items to make room then HOPE that I have what I need to do important crafting.
I think I'll be checking out that weightless cheat. :D

Inon's Fallout 3 Score was just meh, it didn't match the Post Apocalyptic setting at all, it sounded like a fantasy movie score, he did much better with New Vegas.
