Here's a quick news note that should please fans of the Final Fantasy series this morning. Square-Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII-2, the second direct sequel for the series (after Final Fantasy X-2), will be coming to North America for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on January 31, followed by a European release on February 2 (via Joystiq) .
The two releases come roughly a month and a half after the game's December 15 launch in Japan. Japanese fans also get a little something extra, in the form of a region-exclusive limited edition PlayStation 3 with a 320 GB hard drive, the game and a controller, as well as a custom FF-themed design on the console's body.

The last good FF game you made was XII. We bought your games because they were the epitome of the JRPG, everyone was copying YOUR formula for a reason. It worked beautifully. Stop making sequels. Get back to your roots. Open worlds from the beginning of the game. Involving story. Likable characters. Ridiculous super bosses. Chocobos.
Go back to the drawing board. Where's my FFVII remake, by the way ? FFX is coming to the Vita for it's tenth anniversary, I don't think remaking one of your greatest, nay, one of THE greatest games of all time, is too much to ask. Update the graphics. Add voice acting. Don't change anything else. Make me feel 7 years old again.
