Good news for fans of gay relationships! Star Wars: The Old Republic will allow same-gender romances with companion characters, which means Han and Chewie will finally be able to bone down...and don't even get me started about what R2-D2 and C3PO will get up to.
Sadly, the game won't launch with gay-companion relationships; we'll have to wait for a patch for that. The big, gay news came by way of a post on the game's official forums, where Stephen Reid, the senior online community manager posted:
Due to the design constraints of a fully voiced MMO of this scale and size, many choices had to be made as to the launch and post-launch feature set. Same gender romances with companion characters in Star Wars: The Old Republic will be a post-launch feature. Because The Old Republic is an MMO, the game will live on through content expansions which allow us to include content and features that could not be included at launch, including the addition of more companion characters who will have additional romance options.
Did you read that? "additional romance options?" What could that even mean? I'm hoping poly-amorous, and/or tri-sexual relationships are permitted. Or maybe Gundan-Droid marriages (often refered to as "the final taboo) will be in the game. We can only hope!

If you are gay and played a druid in WoW (or even if you were just a druid) you might not believe they'll ever put it in the game. Yes, we'll patch it...right after you buy our game...I'll believe it when I see it.

My stance on this is "why even put marriage into the game in the first place?" Bioware had to know that it would spark controversy, but as they say, any publicity is good publicity.

Well that explains how the Old Republic will fall... I kid I kid. I don't understand what the problem with this will be. I mean if you don't want your character to do this, then don't. If other people do, that's their business.

I like all the comments saying I am done with Bioware lol. Bioware always allows for same sex relationships in their games. Dragon age 1 and 2, Mass Effect's I mean come on people it is optional. I am against gay marriage, but what two people do on their own is their life and who are we to say they can not do it. Plus it is just a game and it will be OPTIONAL so some people need to relax.

Funny, something that was never in any of the Star wars lore as far as I have read is getting put into a video game. Bye bye to my pre-order.

I'm pretty damn sure this means I need to get this game pronto. I've been on the edge, debating back and forth on this game, despite being a big SW fan. I'm not saying I'm all for some human/wookie action, but the fact that there is the additional options makes it that much more awesome.

LOL I like their choice of picture for this article. It looks like the human is walking away from the wookie like "Yea I'm your daddy" while the wookie is mad yet somewhat intrigued at how he was just violated.

It's cool with me to have options in the game. Even prejudiced people could get a kick out of making a character gay and laughing at it. As long as they don't shove it in our faces. I am not at all a homophobe or hate gays in any way. Bears &!@$ in the forest and it doesn't bother me, but does that mean I wanna see it on my front lawn or on my computer? No. Majority rules, and unless the human race is due to die out, the majority is still straight.
Make the choice, but if you will allow two males to make out in the game, you better allow two females to disrobe in a local cantina mud wrestling match. It's only fair.

it amazes me how when a dev puts something like this that is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL in their game, something that YOU HAVE TO INITIATE YOURSELF, all the bigots and homophobes come out of the woodwork and claim they are done playing said developers games.
If you don't like it, don't partake in that part of the game. Don't hate on others for enjoying it.

If someone wants to use the "additional romance options" its their business not anyone else. It also seems to me the people that yell the loudest in the media about stuff like this, end up being the people that play the "additional romance options' if you get my drift.

Awesome move on their part. I wasn't into Anders, but FemHawke certainly put the moves on Isabella... and Zevran for that matter...
Being privy to some knowledge of how some of the companions work, I don't see this being an in your face option.
