Final Fantasy 10 HD Remake Coming To The PlayStation Vita And PlayStation 3

Moments ago at Sony's press conference Hashimoto-san from Square Enix announced that an HD version of Final Fantasy 10 is coming for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. According to Hashimoto-san us Final Fantasy fans need "to be patient for news regarding this new game" which means we probably shouldn't expect it as a Vita launch title.

When we get more information on the Final Fantasy 10 HD remakes we'll be sure to let  you know all about it.

Can I just say, I was unbelievably excited when I heard the news. I was just on youtube, checking out some of the old soundtrack songs from FFX, amazing songs btw. I happened to see a top comment about a FFX remake for PS3.

I got excited, and at the same time, I thought, no way. They couldn't be doing something this good. Immediately opening a new tab to search google, and to my joy, it was true. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS GAME TO COME OUT.

No one really Remembers the Violent games anyway, There is no worthwhile emotional intelligence in war games like call of duty ETC, The world needs less addictions to Violence...

The Younger Generations would Benefit Greatly by playing a More Layed Back Game that has a Nice Story to tell..... The World is Going mad because Violence is the Thing Being Promoted to Younger Generations...

We Get Reminded of our Compassionate Side when Playing Game Like Final Fantasy 10 or 7 or anyother game that Shows those Story Lines, Lets Hope that Square realises this.....

Maybe Merge the Story Stuctures of FF7 And FFX into a new Era.....

There is nothing wrong with the Good Memories of the Past and Experiening Them One More Time, Even if I will Play Final Fantasy Games More Than any other........ The Gaming industry has overloaded on hardcore Violence and need to Get intouch with the Warm side to Playing Games.....

Final Fantasy 10 is the Warmest game Ive Played, I wants you to remember. . unlike the Violent games out there that turn the Next gerneration of Gamers into People with Hypo behahioural Problems.....

The World of gaming has lost touch with a Heart Warming Game, and in these dark times we need something that gets us intouch with that experience, Final Fantasy also lost touch with that experience after 10... Alot of Effort went into the Story of 10 and the Music, Its what a Good Game Should be....

I Already Pre Ordered The Vito Espessialy for Final Fantasy X....

You have to Admit it, FFX is Just as Great as FF7, But FF7 has had more than Enough exposure over the years. Maybe FF7 will get a Future remake, who knows.

It was really Final Fantsay 10 that set the Trend for HD gaming with the HD cinematics and all. Final Fantasy 10 Deserves it Place in the HD World, If i had the Money, I would Even make Spira an Online RPG. It has all the Mystical Trates of a Succesful Online Role Player. With The Aeons etc.

The reason their doing FFX is because it already looks so good. What I want to know is what version of FFX are they going to use? Are they going to use the international version or are shafted again and have to stick with the original?

I think it's hilarious that despite the FF7 fanboys desperate desires for an HD remake of their object of worship, FFX gets one first.

However I can see why since the game's graphics were already MUCH closer to HD than FF7's were. It would be much easier to make the upgrades to 10.

And I know they released the opening cinematic as a tech-demo redone for PS3 quality graphics but redoing a single cutscene is a cake-walk compared to the amount of time and effort it would take to overhaul the entire game into a new engine.

People say it'd be harder to make FF7 when they teased us with a spec demo of what FF7 would look like on the ps3. I don't see it being a pain in the ass when they've already got a spec demo from years ago. Sure FFX was a good game but it doesn't compare to FF7 imo. If FF7 doesn't get a remake, I'd rather see VIII get one before X.

The fact tactics got a revamp angers me when they put it on the PSP.. I don't wanna go out and buy a psp just to play the revamped version of a game I dearly love. FFTA was a joke imo..

in all honestly, come up with something new.. Don't rehash old games to make money.. We need more innovation. Just like Hollywood trying to remake old movies because they've run out of ideas.

I feel like this is just babbling.. but eh.. Maybe someone can interpret what I'm saying.

Lets be honest I am no noob to the final fantasy series of games. I remember playing them all when they were first released. I personally think they are waiting to release a FF7 for the next console. All I know is everything about 7 was amazing! And I quote 10 million copies worldwide as of May 2010, [4] making it the best-selling title in the series. Final Fantasy VII received significant praise upon its release for its graphics, gameplay, music and story. There was also criticism pertaining to its English localization. It has retrospectively been acknowledged as the game that popularized the role-playing video game genre outside of the Japanese market, and has frequently ranked highly on numerous professional and fan-made "greatest games of all time" lists. Look at that! Acknowledged as the game that popularized the rpg fan base outside of Japan... Just saying, you can't really argue with the facts.

There are countless reasons why an HD FF7 remake would be a trainwreck, but I'm not going to try to convince anyone who believes otherwise, because the only people who want it remade are unlogical and overly sentimental noobs. If they did remake FF7, all you little cloud strife loyalists and sephiroth-enamored fanatics would hate it anyway, because it would be such a far cry from what the original game was.

FF7 was a decent game, but still geting a boner from a game 14 YEARS after it was released is ridiculous. It's time to move on. FFX had far better storytelling, an engaging plot, and is much more up to par with what gaming is nowadays. Sorry kids, cloud's gonna stay in the 90's where he belongs.

I still think remaking FFVII would be the smarter move, even if it did piss off as many fans as it made happy, there would be more people buying it than buying a remake of FFX, and what can those pissed off fans do? Most people don't like any of the new FF games anyway, and it isn't like they can go and stop buying FFVII copies when it's so old and they already have it.

So remaking FFVII still seems like a smarter move to me. I loved both games, a lot, but FFX had amazing graphics by default. It was the first, and by far the best of its time for graphics. I don't see a point in wasting money to play it in HD when it already looks so freaking good. FFVII however, would be freaking amazing with updated graphics. That's how I see it. I wouldn't buy a remake of FFX when the original still looks amazing. FFVII honestly would be their best bet for a remake. I would think overall, more fans would buy that one over FFX... I don't even own a PS3, but I sure as hell wouldn't go out and buy one for the sole purpose of an FFX remake lol.

I'm not dissing on FFX. Like I said, I loved it, but I loved FFVII too, and FFVII is much much older and seeing it with modern graphics would be utterly... orgasmic.

@Tailzeh: Luls, Legend of Dragoon would be absolutely amazing too. Amazing game.

um im sorry ff 10 fans but WTF WHY NOT MAKE FF 7 REMAKE ITS OLDER SO IT SHOULD GET REMADE FIRST FF10 DOESNT EVEN LOOK THAT OUT DATED ill buy it for ps vita tho but this is a good sign because if they do make ff7 remake then it would be safe to assume that it will come out for ps vita too and thats goo because not everyone has a ps3, including me. i also hope they make ff13 verses for ps vita bcuz i really want that

FF7 sucks. It would be a terrible remake. Besides, this blows thing out of proportion now. I wanted to see FFV and FFVI remade. Which now that's more than better seeing as the 3DS is WAY better than the DS. *sigh* Square-Enix just really needs to hire a ton of new people or something. Notice how it said do not expect this game anytime soon. Yeah, they definitely do not know how to prioritize their games up in there. We still haven't seen anything Versus XIII wise and they're releasing a XIII-2 before Versus XIII and that's been announced longer. Hell FFXIV came out earlier than Versus XIII. They really need to focus on who does what instead of just changing everyone's game prioritization every day because that's what it seems like. They get good ideas, but the wait makes the game less and less appealing. Or at least it was for me when I got FFXIII.

I'm gunna catch a lot of hate for this but I cant stand most new gen RPG's. I haven't liked a Final Fantasy since FF9. Don't Get me wrong FF10 had a good story line but something was just missing for me. I think the characters didnt do much for me. Incidentally a certain someone resigned right after FF9 and maybe that's why it just hasn't been the same. At any rate i'm still excited to give FF10 another try. I got to the end and just completely lost interest so i'm down to give it a second chance and will be buying it either way.

One thing I have noticed is that JRPG's are mostly dead. Gone is the GOLDEN ERA of amazing RPG's and Square Enix's image being the GRAND DADDY OF RPG'S. Think about what we grew up on Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, FF Tactics (Original) FF4,6,7,8,9, Parasite Eve, Legend of Mana, Breath of Fire, Legend of Dragoon, Xeno Gears, Grandia II, Persona, Ogre Battle 64, I can go on and on. All these games still hold their value and are still considered amazing.

As far as FF7 being a remake I see some faults like how the game would be rendered and still keep its context. In example, how would you keep the quirkiness of the Corneo incident and render it in 3d. You gotta help a dude that is stuck on the pot ><. I think that fans need to have a realistic idea of what Square has to do to make the remake a reality.

Having said that. It is ONE of the most popular RPG's of all time. You could argue that its overrated and whatever but you cant argue the facts that it is incredibly popular and probably tied in popularity with FF6 if not more. Since FF7 is arguably more known than FF6 due to the system it was on. Though many old school gamers consider 6 a better game.

    1. I am as passionate as a fan gets and I would love a FF7 remake. As long as it stays relatively close to the original game with some tweaks necessary to make it wok Its fine. I don't that its an impossible task. Also there will always be people that will be unhappy no matter what you do.

    2. Sure the game would take a loooooooong time to make but they already proved they can do it with the PS3 tech demo. It looked just fine IMO. I think it is a poor excuse because I personally feel that game developers make pushing games out a rat race instead of taking time on them like they did in the past. This may be why we are lacking in good quality RPG's. Also the development teams were much smaller so you could argue more heart and passion got put into the games where now a days a lot of that gets lost in the hugeness of development teams. Chances are if you rush something it wont be as good as if you took your time anyhow.

    3. Easier to tackle translates to laziness imo. But I do understand that they are a company and need to make money so I will agree with that your argument has really great points. I would also agree that FF7 is a bit convoluted and once I got older and through my 10th ish playthrough I payed much more attention and I realized how deep FF7 really is, again though it is hard to keep track but I could argue that problem could be fixed with the remake. They could also tie in more story line now involving Zack, Shinra, Clouds past, etc. etc.

4.I am really hoping that this isn't the case. That a slightly better rendered game wouldn't be the result of a culmination of problems easily solved for the most part. FF7 IMO and i'm sure most fans will agree needs to be seen in modern light. I think Square in general needs to step up its game and focus more on the quality of its titles. It saddens me to say that the most exciting thing in the last 3 years that square has brought to the table for me will be TOMB RAIDER which isn't even an RPG.

Again i'm excited for all the FF10 fans but I speak for myself when I say its no FF7. (or FF6, FF9, Tactics lol)
