While Adam may have caught the most recent mutation of the nerd flu (this time with added sinus infection), he spent some quality time at home with his television. One of the highlights of this period of sickness was Resistance 3. After years of working on the PS3, Insomniac seems to have refined their controls to the point where the awkwardness of the Dualshock 3 seems to have disappeared. Not only that, but the game is tons of fun, full of amazing weapons, has incredible art, and features a dark and mature story line. In other words, The Sess enjoyed it. Let him tell you for himself in this week's Soapbox.

See Adam Sessler is more impartial (than morgan webb). No one wants to here why morgan hates ps3!He doesnt take sides with the xbox vs ps3 debate. He might like xbox more but his reviews are spot on with each system he never favors one or the other. He tells you how it is.Mr Sessler I applaud you, you tell us how the game is regardless.Thats how a review is suppose to be, tell us if you like the game the story.Sessler is the only reason I watch g4tv.I dont watch it for Morgan drooling over her Xbox constantly.Gears of war 3 is coming out, GET A BIB MORGAN your drooling again.I'll stick with Uncharted, killzone, resistance, little big planet, infamous, starhawk, motor storm, socom 4,twisted metal!

I have been waiting for this game for this game to come out

Insomniac has really outdone themselves with this one. After playing Resistance 1 and 2, I was expecting 3 to be pretty awesome. Imagine my surprise when I get the game, and find out that it is epic! Easily the best game I have played this year.

I highly agree with Adam. To me this is the best game in the series. The story is emotional and sucks you in, plus you care about the characters. I love how they went back to the weapon select wheel from the first game, it annoyed me how the second game you could only hold two weapons. This is a game that I am going to go back and play over and over again. P.S. what is up with Gameinformers average score, were you guys seriously play the same game as me.

Its good to hear the games good. The dummys at gameinformer gave it a 7. Ill be pickin it up if i get tired of dead island by the time rage comes out.

I wasn't to impressed with the first Resistance game, but Adam just sold me on giving the franchise a shot again.

Well, now I know what else I should get after I get job, a PS3 and Resistance 3.

I also love Insomniac's mindset for making games, although I thought they strayed from it in Resistance 2. Giving me a bunch of unique weapons and letting me use them whenever I see fit always makes for a fun game. I'm only a few hours into R3, but I couldn't be more pleased. The first time I shot that Atomizer's alt fire I grinned ear to ear. And I can't wait to get back in to find new weapons and keep upgrading my arsenal.
More developers should take notes from Insomniac and strive to make their shooters more uniquely creative instead of feeling as if they have to be confined to realism. Some people consider these features gimmicky, but they are exactly what I look for when purchasing shooters.
Id's Rage also looks to be deviating from the norm with the wingstick, spider turrets, and car combat, and that is why I'll be picking it up day one as well.

what are these vaunted obstacles of the ps3 controller?

I'm sick too! I'm also going to pick up the game, YAY!

OMG, the guy playing in the background sucks, lmao! He is trying to snipe with the two shortest range weapons in the game, noob.

Resistance IS the PS3 shooter franchise to play

I trust Adam's opinion(for the most part) but I'm having a hard time justifiying purchasing FPS titles on release day(even one I want as much as Resistance 3). My reason is simply that the campaigns are usually fairly short and I've all but lost my interest in competitive mp. With that said I really want Resistance 3(and even Dead Island) but I keep guilting myself out of going to the store today.

Well said Adam. Resistance 3 controls beautifully and the story really drew me in. The weapons are a blast to use and i love the level of difficulty that all the enemies display. Plus the game is impressive on the eyes. I highly recommend this game to all who have PS3 and those that don't. GET resistance 3. You won't be disappointed. I'm saying this in terms of the main campaign, cos i'm not too much of an online player.

thanks a lot Adam. You have successfully made this work day even worse. I have the game on my desk and it is KILLING me that I cannot play it until I get home. Glad to hear you enjoyed the game so much. Perhaps I'll see you online when you're feeling better.

Damn I have to get in on that

i gotta disagree with Adam on the need for more traditional shooters to reward you through upgrades as you go further into the game. I think you becoming better without the upgrade is traditionally a very big reward, and when the game makes you more powerful it is not clear how much of your improvement in performance is due to the game making your more powerful and how much is through you personally getting better at the game, so you lose that feeling of accomplishment of becoming better.

But seriously, I'm hesitant to give this game a try. I played about 15 minutes of Resistance: Fall of Man and I couldn't get past the bland environments and the lackluster opening.
