Halo 4 won't be coming until the end of next year, but it's currently out a creative director as Ryan Payton has left his gig at 343 Industries and established a new studio, Camouflaj. Payton previously made a name for himself as an assistant producer on Metal Gear Solid 4, joining the Microsoft studio following his tenure at Kojima Productions.
"I had a great run at Microsoft," Payton told Kotaku. "I don't regret one day of it. But after a few years, there came a point where I wasn't creatively excited about the project anymore."
While Payton still has the utmost faith in the 343 team, his head just isn't in the Halo universe anymore. "The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different and I don't think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavor through."
Payton's Camouflaj is already up and running, with two titles said to be in development. No details on what they are or even what platform(s) they're headed to, but Payton is clearly wasting no time in moving on.
