Call Of Duty Elite Pricing Detailed At CoD XP -- "Play Together Better"

Call of Duty Elite promises to help gamers "play together better" for a price. Many of the features are in fact free out of the box when you buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, however, CoD Elite Premium will set you back $49.99.

Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer games have been working with the CoD Elite's team, Beachhead Studios, to make sure Elite enhances every aspect of multiplayer. Annual members who pony up $50, will get every piece of DLC through the year. That's 20 pieces of downloadable content in all. You also get the content first, before the public. DLC will be released monthly for Elite Premium members so you'll never stop playing, ever.

Elite Premium members will also be able to compete daily for virtual and real life prizes. These competitions will be refereed and sectioned off based on skill level. Yes, even if you suck, you could win. Clans level up as well unlocking other awards for Elite players.

In addition to PC access, COD Elite will also be available via apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices so players can stay connected wherever they go, as well as customize and sync custom loadouts that will then be available as soon as they boot up the game. Even if you don’t pay for Elite, you’ll still be able to customize classes on the go too and invite Facebook friends to join you on the virtual battlefield.

Elite offers a wealth of videos too with premium members awarded eight times more video space for replay videos, and access to expert strategy and analysis from pro-gamers and experts. These videos will be updated constantly. Also includes is the debut of Elite TV, which will consist of short films created by Hollywood talent like directors Ridley and Tony Scott, and actors Will Arnett and Jason Bateman. Ridley and Tony Scott will be bringing gamers Friday Night Fights, a chance for people to solve their real life problems in MW3 (think athletes and musicians facing off against one another). Arnett and Bateman are working on NoobTube, the best games of the week culled from actual gameplay plus comedic smack talk a la The Soup. "The ammo is in the banana stand!" Okay, that's why I don't write the comedy.

If you were to buy all of the DLC released in the following year it would set you back at least $60. If you're a CoD fan, the Elite Premium service sounds like it clocks in at $5 a month.

Does this sound like a service you're interested in?

I only bought 1 map pack for MW2, didnt like it that much, and im not going to spend more than 60.00 on a COD game, Activision = Douchbag company. Really. i might just buy the game used at gamestop so they get the money, not activion. (the only reason i'll buy this game, is because I have the 1 and 2.)

You get elite with the modernwar fare game.. wether you want it or not.. its free.. only if u want ''members'' featurs you pay.. and besides.. if ur gonna buy every map pack for a total of 20 for 15$ u might as well spend the 50$ ANNUAL and u get them earlyer and u can compete for real prizes.. of course activision makes this offer for people who are really into call of duty and not for people who play once a week..

I wont lie I will buy the regular version to the game but not a cent more will activision take or has from me for online play, being as history repeats another COD title will be out in 6 months anyways. Consumers decide the popularity of a title, succeed or fail. I choose FAIL. Golds enough for the year. BF3 will be my choice I think for online.

I am going to get this game mainly because I know all of my friends will be playing it. However, I am holding out to buy it used and I am NOT buying this Elite crap. I already don't allow them to rape me $15 a pop for 4 or 5 maps. As a consumer I am sick of getting the shaft from these companies and they aren't getting anymore of my money. Screw Activision.

Haha! Very sneaky. Unfortunately, this happens. And I personally don't see the trend stopping anytime soon. I remember when video games were average $30. Now they've made their way past the $60 mark. Now with multiplayer taking on the size of full length games and making it a "community", we're slowly but surely being swooped away into higher price ranges. Truth is, gaming communities should be FREE!!! Gamers made communities on their own way back when so why is just calling it "Elite" justify it to have a price tag connected? Just because the devs made it? Gamers made this world. Stop invading it! Or don't... we'll eventually make a free version. We always do. Nice try tho. Haha!

The funniest bit about all those who argue that this is a good deal or is fair in some way.

It's apparent Activision is in this for the long haul, now game ever year.

    So we know that' s$60.

    Now Elite Premium is $50

Then factor in XBL pricing, because you can't play without XBL access. Granted not under Activision's control but it should be a factor for them when pricing anything via online multiplayer.

So lets say $120 worth of DLC is released...so I've supposedly saved $70 and I get Premium access to Elite or I could wait and then DLC is knocked down 50% and then I get what was $120 for $60.

In addition, when I get DLC without Elite...it's mine and mine for good. So what happens when you get it via Elite Premium...is it yours or only when you have a valid and current Elite Premium account?

So that means if you keep up with the new games you get charged a total of $170 per year.

Halo Waypoint is free and backtracks previous games, not just current and new ones. I dont' watch playbacks nor anything like that.

Now I see a lot of "well if they're that hardcore about CoD they'll buy it...well I'm pretty hardcore and I'm NOT buying it. The majority of the customer base is kids 12-16...who don't have jobs and scrounge cash to get the game, let alone DLC...so now they'll have to bug mom and dad for an additional $50 EVERY YEAR.

So the question is, once this is release, the masses spend the cash to buy it...how much longer do we have until it's required to play online?

Then how long until other companies implement it on their online play.

We already know Capcom is heading for "one save gaming" because resale at places like Gamestop kills their projected profits.

50 bucks a year on top of M$ 60 bucks a year just to play this game online with 'enhanced' features........knew this day was coming as IW always complained M$ was making money off their game via multiplayer..

oh well, glad i stopped caring about COD games and am on the Battlefield train

The price tag $50 a year isn't that bad. Elite is for people who want more out of their CoD experience so people who actually play it a lot will dish out the money to get more of it. That goes for Competitive players, people who make Youtube Montage and people who just play the game a lot. CoD was the majority of my gaming time so I would have dished out the extra money. The people who play Black Ops who bought all the maps spent $45 and only got 3 DLCs. (Not including zombie dlc) For $5 more you are getting 20 DLCs over 12 months which is 6.6 times more and getting them every half a month. (According to the information above $50 gets you a yearly subscripton and 20 DLCs) If you are asking me that is one ridiculously good deal. If you bought every DLC that is $300 and you are spending $50 which is an 83% Discount. I mean the people who play Xbox pay $60 a year just so they can play on Xbox. What is the difference? None. The people who really like to play CoD will pay the $50 a year just like the people who want to play on Xbox dish out the $60 year.

Its sad how all of you are getting so angry about something that for one you don't have to pay for. I mean if you hate CoD this much why do even take the time of day to read the article and than have to post negative comments about it? And if you don't even play CoD why are you voicing your opinion when it doesn't even matter? You don't even play the game so why should your opinion even be taken in account? It shouldn't. Do you have nothing better to do than stalk news about a game that you hate? Your arguements are pathetic and have no good reasoning to back them up. You are rotting these message boards where there could be productive discussions about it instead of this plague of childness. If you want to be negative at least give us something a substantial reasoning with supporting facts that can help validate your opinion.

Maybe you should have to have Elite, and pay for it to use online multiplayer. Don't get me wrong, $50 a year on top of Live Gold is a bit much, but it might keep out some of the riff raff (example: I was playing last night and three people decided to corner, and trap me against a wall on a hardcore ricochet game of MW2.) I left the match, and went on Netflix.
