Madden NFL 12 is the only true NFL simulator, and while EA Sports' flagship franchise is still good, this years iteration of the game has somewhat taken a step backwards in a lot of ways according to our Madden expert Mike D'Alonzo.
Overall, Madden NFL 12 is going to be satisfying to Madden fans who buy the game year after year, regardless of what's changed and what's not. Usually, steps forward are made in the franchise, but this year, it seems that the steps forward have been made in the parts of the game that aren't the fundamentals. In other words, it's just fine to add lots and lots of extras, but when the core game takes a step backward, you need to really think of what's important.

Don't even see the point in releasing a new game each year when the gameplay is practically identical to the previous iteration.
If anything, EA should just update the player rosters with down loadable content and save a new edition for when they've actually innovated some new aspects of play into the game.
Over all it would be cheaper for the customers/fans, still allow for sales of the current game to new players and allow for the developers to focus on making a better version of the game.

Geomancer I can see where your coming from if you don't care for any sports games, but I'm huge into NHL and the way I see it I put an insane amount of hours into the NHL EA Franchise so I know the lifespan of the game is a full year no more, no less. I don't think you can say that about every sixty dollar game that comes out, some people beat them in a month and theres not much to do in it afterwards. Theres no must buy dlc and they get better every year and like I said I know the life cycle. Games that don't make sense to me buying every year is Call of Duty. Black Ops is gunna be old in november yet treyarc put out FOUR map packs at 15 bucks a piece for a game that will be out dated in november now that flat out makes no sense to me, 60 bucks of dlc within a year of the game is too much plus you should never half to spend that much on dlc anyones, hope some peoplephilosophy and agree with my sports see my point about CoD.

I just can't get these sports games. I just don't understand how people can not be crying RIPOFF at these every year. They make people pay full retail price, pay $60, for DLC, and people still line up at midnight every, single, year. Are these people just unaware of this? is it that they aren't regular gamers and only buy these games so they just don't know any better?

Maddens still better than NCAA, NCAA dynasty mode is deeper, but the gameplay is horrible at least maddens is tolerable

i don't get why people buy madden every year...its just a roster update with a tweak here and there. I'm still playing madden 09 and ncaa 09 and i still enjoy it. Ya CALL OF DUTY comes out every year but atleast they are different and they are set in different places.

1 this year is not bad at all good things were added for people who play alot and like franchise and online!
2 do any of you remember what made 2k5 anygood well madden now has it and do you remember 2 years ago nfl2k teams failure of a football game with stars from the past the GAME was broke not the people in it!!!!!

As much as I liked 2k5 I (which was alot) I can't help but feel that most of the bitching is because a bunch of cheap asses don't want to pay 60 dollars a year, I haven't paid full price for madden since....I can remember but for the love of Football no one cares about a 6 year old game anymore, Be mad that EA has the contract but STFU about this crap, every year oh madden sucks compared to 2k5, Tecmo Bowl and Monster league football pwn 2k5 anyway.

So far I've saved over $250 from not buying Madden for the past five years. EA had always had an interest in looking out for my wallet. Looks like I'll have to thank them again this year. Maybe I'll send Peter Moore a fruit basket this Christmas.

nfl2k5 actually had things and presentation in it more then madden 12 has in it. I mean the guys don't even look at the football being thrown at them when passed. Especially the cornerbacks. Does anyone know when EA loses there nfl exclusive rights?

I love how EA claims to have the number one selling football franchise. Well, DUH! They're the only ones with the NFL license. I remember when they were competing with 2KSports each year. It FORCED both companies to make a better game.

I just got done playing Madden 12 at my friends house and it didn't impress me. NCAA College Football 12 is a better game and had more things to offer than Madden 12. I had more fun with NCAA Football. I do like how Madden 12 feels like watching a broadcast football game. This year NCAA Football 12 is number one, while Madden 12 sits on the bench. Rather than buying the same old Madden game, yet again EA, I going to save my money and buy a real harcore core game Warhammer 40K Space Marine.
