Microsoft teased E3 attendees earlier this summer when a reveal trailer for Halo 4 debuted at the company's annual convention press conference. The brief video confirmed almost nothing about the game, other than the return of Master Chief and Cortana. A little more emerged over the weekend, with 343 Industries revealing at PAX that Halo 4 kicks of "The Reclaimer Trilogy."
343's Frank O'Connor confirmed that the fourth Halo game and the two that follow it will continue the story of Master Chief and Cortana, who were last seen in Halo 3. He didn't say anything about what the title "The Reclaimer Trilogy" points to, though he did confirm that we'll get to know John-117, the man inside Master Chief's armor, a little better.
Halophiles probably know what a Reclaimer is already, but the Halo Nation wiki lays it out for those who don't. In short, a Reclaimer -- which can only be either a human or a Forerunner -- is one who is tasked with activating and operating Forerunner technology, including the Halo weapons.
To get a sense of the direction 343's efforts are taking, check out the concept art video gallery in the embed up top.

(Correct me if I'm wrong, Halopedians, but) I believe there are still approximately 20 Spartan-2's still alive, in total (rounded up). [So many Spartan-3's, I didn't even try to count.]
And from all the Halo literature, there are only a few unresolved plotlines left.
1.] John & Cortana's fate
2.] 5 Other Halo rings on standby (& the Flood contained in each therein)
3.] Dr. Catherine Halsey's, Blue Team remnants', & a couple Spartan-3 teams' fate inside Onyx
4.] Dr. Ellen Anders & Red Team Alpha's fate on UNSC Spirit of Fire, on it's way back to UNSC space
5.] Gray Team's fate, somewhere in the outer UNSC colonies [3-person team]
6.] Black Team's fate, along with other Covenant, inside Line Installation 1-4, on a moon [4-person team]
7.] Elite-Brute [Sangheilian-Jiralhanae] War, post-Covenant dissolution/"Great Schism" [post Halo 3]
{That is a lot of STRANDED Spartan-2's}
Doubt it was coincidence that I was able to come up with 7 significant ones, but please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong (if there are more/less).

I can't wait for MS to (not for the first time) pledge to support pc gaming,
then make Halo an xbox exclusive.
I love the story though. Whoever said it's canon is strong though, you do know Reach retconned some stuff right?

im really hoping that 343 dosent mess up the seris. I know that there is bungie workers at 343 but its tough to have the same magic as bungie did. i just hope that the series dosent lose that "halo" feeling.
deadclownin
looks nice i just hope its longer then halo 3 and reach those 2 were way to short. id like another halo as long as 2

I honestly cant wait for this new trilogy. 343i is on the right tracks with the Halo franchise I believe. Being the Halo nut I am Id still buy this game if nobody else would. Way to go 343!

the concept art looks beautiful.
And duhhhhhh, that's a Forerunners world. i think its the planet they originated from. In Halo Legends, the planet the flood first attacked. that's the planet the Chiefs ship is being.....picked up by?

If you are all too dumb to piece it together, i will tell you cookies what it is.......Remember in halo one when the stupid flying orb kept saying welcome back"reclaimer"? Welcome to the story of halo four. Hooray for stupid prequelsequel games. 5$ says the stupid stuff threw cheif back in time.........

I'm not sure about this whole thing. I love the games, don't get me wrong, but my favorite aspect of Halo is the story behind it all. The Halo story is one of the deepest, most well-planned videogame canons of all-time, and nobody can argue with me on that. Bungie did an amazing job with bringing this whole thing to life, but in my opinion, Halo 3 should've been the end. It left us all wondering about John as well as Cortana. At the end of the Halo 4 trailer, that huge vessel, in my opinion, looked like it could belong to the Forerunners. In Halo: Cryptum, it mentions the Halo rings, and what they were originally made for. Once you think about it, the Forerunners more than likely, planned on returning once the Forerunner devices had been activated. If that ship DID belong to the Forerunners, then yes, this "Reclaimer Trilogy" could be an AMAZING addition to the game. But ONLY if it has to do with the Forerunners. There are a lot of things that they could do that involve the Forerunners. As ConDAWG posted earlier, they could use the shield world, Onyx, and Masterchief might be trying to save them or whatnot. Or, the Forerunners could come back and attempt to take back what is theirs (Well, what USED to be theirs.). There are plenty of possiblities, but I will not be happy if they try to do something entirely new that is unrelated to the books. I will be buying the game, because of how much I love the story, and will keep it if is actually worth keeping.

They said in the legends commentary that the babysitter is supposed to be set up for the future games so i hope they stick to that. I certainly want to know why there are asian ruins on an alien world.

The "Inception WHOOOOMPS" are everywheeere!! haha

I always do this to myself. I say I'm done with Halo then they do something to pull me back in. To be honest I don't even like the game all that much, but there is something to be said about the story and the overall experience that I end up picking up the latest copy.
Which is why I'm pretty sure Halo 4 will be no different.
ConDAWG
For all the people who say m$ is milking the series they are actually not. There have been many books that dive deep into the halo story and tell you much more than what the games offer. The Fall of Reach(book was 100 times better than the game),The Flood, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx, and others that tell small stories.
My prediction is that the planet we see in the H4 trailer is Onyx or the Shield World that Doctor Hasley(creator of the spartan's, and the remaining spartan's Kelly, Linda, Fred. So I am very excited to see what 343 can bring to the table to continue the great story the books have given this series.

So im just throwing out an idea of what i think is going to happen over the trilogy.
The mysterious planet is a forerunner world and there happens to be forerunners on there and chief tries to bring them back while being attacked by the sentinels.
Or the sentinels bring back the forerunners somehow and chief tries to stop them. Idk im just speculating, but I'm pretty sure that planet is a forerunner world.

I dont know. As much as i enjoyed all Halo (except for ODST and a bit of Reach) i do not know if i am ready for another Halo. I can go for a brand spanking new IP.

Looks good to me. I like the direction they are taking. Big, expansive. I'm just hoping they go back to more Halo 3-esque multiplayer. Not a big fan of Reach's "health and shield combo" a la Combat Evolved-days. However, I really liked what they did with the engine and customization options.
Time will tell. But this is shaping up to be a really good game. Plus, Frankie is at the helm. What more do you want?
Illuminate88
Yeah, goosebumps galore.
DigitalGibs
Umm, isn't bad luck to declare a trilogy for a game that has barely started production from a team that has yet to complete a game on a franchise that everyone is too scared to change? I smell a disaster, but lets hope it's just paranoia.

No, Im not doing this, Im getting Anniversary, and thats it, Im done, no more Halo shooters for me.
