Gears of War 3 will launch on September 20 with 10 multiplayer maps available for play online in versus, Horde and Beast modes, though until today only nine were officially confirmed. Epic Games has revealed in a press release that the tenth and final map is in fact yet another revamping of the classic "Gridlock" environment.
The newly updated map features the expected "graphical enhancements" as well as new weapon spawn locations and a nighttime backdrop. In addition, the release also notes that the "Old Town," "Thrashball" and "Trenches" maps have been "enhanced" following their appearance in the online beta. "Trenches" has a new combat area "that significantly changes the dynamic of firefights" and "Thrashball" features changes that "prevent spawn camping."
