Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Offers More Versatile Weapons

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Preview

Here's some news that ought to delight the serious Call of Duty geeks. Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling revealed a couple of facts about some of the weapon attachments in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in an interview with OXM, which should offer new tactical opportunities on the virtual battlefield.

"You can now fold down your magnifying scope and already have a close-range optic on your gun - so now you're engaging guys close-target without having to change weapons," he said. Players ought to appreciate being able to now fold a long-range and close-range class into one custom slot. Bowling said the addition was made after the development team spoke with actual Delta Force operatives.

MW3 will also feature a new kind of high-tech grenade launcher, the XM25 air burst grenade launcher, aka the "Punisher." Bowling offers an example of how it is used: "If a guy is behind a concrete barrier, you can laser-tag that cover point, fire over it and it will then program the round to explode one meter past it." My question is, if actual skill is required to use this thing, is it really fair to call it a noobtube?

I personally only use the noob tube when I just want to mess around and have fun, but isn't that the purpose of these games, to have fun? Something most people seem to forget now a days. All it is, is complain, complain, complain. So while your complaining about getting noob tubed, I'm laughing on the other side of the map. GG

Uh we knew all this already from the trailers. I dont expect to hear much about MP till the COD event next month. After that we will know everything (unless they adopt #arch's version of everything)

No. A noobtube doesn't require that kind of aiming. The XM25 sounds way too advanced for that title.

Ok, um first off the only reason most of you complain about noobtubes is because you suck with them and can't fight back against those who are using them. Second, IW already announced that danger close will not be in MW3 so all noobtubes will be the same as CoD4 where noobtubing wasn't that big a deal. Third, if all of you that hate noobtubes keep getting killed by noobtubes then stop camping. Hearing about noobtubes is so annoying. Nothing is wrong with noobtubes. It does take skill to use a noobtube so for those who hate them obviously must not have skill.

I like getting tubed as much as the next guy but get over it . . . if you're going to complain about that, don't forget to complain about camping. And for all you campers out there who think you're being strategic . . people who use grenade launchers are strategically removing you from your camping spot.

As for BF3 . . yes it will be good, but unless you plan on playing on PC, the multiplayer is going to be a joke. Large multiplayer games on consoles are never smooth. But on the other hand I'm pullin for DICE, because frankly BF3 looks bad ass. I'm still a little skeptical seeing as how they announced that BF3 is being made first and foremost for the PC. I'm not a fanboy so I'm going to enjoy both games. Just don't join my lobby because I don't rage quit, I rage tube. ;)

I hate getting killed time after time with the "n00b tube", but I don't want it removed from the game. Like someone else said, it's a good way to clear people out who are hiding, camping or whatever. Just deal with it.

LOL that is it? That is the versatility? God poor CoD. Well I am going to go look at the BF3 weapons etc. Did i mention that they have over 50 weapons? 25+ attachments to those weapons? And what does CoD do? Adds more god damn noobtubes to the already awful amount of people who use them. Well done CoD, well done.

i hate people complaining about tubes, that is more annoying than the guy using them. if you actually know how to play a guy with a tube is nothing, unless they know how to use it. if anything the guy running around with a tube and rpg has the biggest target on them and die the most on scoreboards.

Black Ops' Flak Jacket (which if one looks at Kotaku's leaked images MW3 will also have it) Make the grenade launcher less effective. BO also lessened the radius and eliminated Sonic Boom/Danger Close.

Its how the Grenade Launcher is used that makes everyone angry. I use a grenade launcher and have since MW1. Most people just use them as the primary and then the assault rifle/battle rifle as the secondary once they use the two rounds. I on the other hand use the 40mm as a way to get people out of cover or bow up a car to get a kill. Remember, you don't hate the grenade launcher, you just hate how its used.

I feel this calls for the obligatory Halo > CoD comment, but I will refrain from posting such, and just agree with the people that think n00b tubes are lame.

so if you're able to put down the scope to make it close/long range then what about dual-wielding? being able to either put one gun down or raise them both into a badass ironsights mode (like have both the ironsights next to each other so you can see down both with each one having a slightly different aim) would make it so awesome and balance out this new sight swapping dealie...
