Torchlight 2 Hands-On Preview

Runic Games has announced that the price of the dungeon crawling action RPG Torchlight 2 will be $19.99, and that the final class will be the Embermage.

The Embermage is a magic wielding class that joins the previously announced Engineer, Outlander, and Berserker classes. It's not too surprising that the final class is a magic user when you consider all of the other classes, but it's nice to know that it's finally confirmed. Also, as the original Torchlight was only $20, it's great that the second game, which brings with it tons of additions and new features over the first title, is still be released at a value price.

“It’s always been our goal to provide exceptional value for the price,” says Max Schaefer, CEO of Runic Games. “Everyone who wants to play Torchlight 2 will be able to comfortably afford to do so, and they’ll be able to play with their friend online or via a LAN, or play single player offline, all with no further purchases.””

We'll be getting some hands on time with T2's Embermage at PAX Prime 2011, so be sure to check back for our preview. Torchlight 2 is coming to the PC sometime in 2011.

Wonder if there will be any loyalty discount (on steam or otherwise) for us who own the first Torchlight. I vaguely tecall they stating on the page for the first game they were going to implement co-op for it pr somethong along those lines. If that's the case they should at least offer a small discount.

Couch co-op ? That is the main reason me or the wife have yet to buy the first one. Back in the day we would play Champions of Norath on ps2 all night long, so why not from an xbla???

The first game was a great deal for $20. This game will literally be a steal for $20.

Only $20 ? To much for a downloadable game these need to be around $10 AT MOST. It's not like it cost them anything in packaging and advertisement.

Somehow I can believe the last class to be a magician of some kind, since that was all that was left. Make sure to hit them up for a release date if they have one. I've been waiting for a year already.

Only $20? I'll definitely buy it! I honestly thought it was gonna be closer to the $30 range at least.
