firefall

This weekend, August 26-28, at PAX Prime you'll have the opportunity to not only see an amazing lifesize Firefall sculpture created by Steve Wang, in person, but you'll also get the chance to participate in the Crystite Challenge to win some amazing Firefall prizes. The Firefall sculpture is an amazing 14 feet high and took a heck of a lot of work to complete. If you want to see exactly how Wang and crew made the piece, check out our behind the scenes photo gallery of the Firefall sculpture.

Firefall is the upcoming free to play shooter from Red 5 Studios that seems to be a mix between Team Fortress 2 and Borderlands. At PAX Prime, daily missions will be given to PAX attendees that all require you to do something Firefall related. Once you complete your mission you'll get Crystite, which you can then turn in for loot at the Firefall booth.

The kind of loot is all sorts of Firefall memorabilia including shirts, hats, character cards of the main character Typhon and Morningstar, as well as miniature figurines of the characters. But that's not all, you'll also get a chance to win an iPad and some fancy headphones as well.

Read on to check out the kind of missions you'll need to overcome at PAX Prime this weekend to get some of this awesome stuff!

And there you have it. If you're heading to PAX Prime will you be trying out some of these Firefall related missions to get some of the sick loot? I'm thinking of growing a mustache just for the occasion, what do you think?

My first comment has seemed to be deleted so I am going to repost.

The marketing department is quite genius have some type of scavenger hunt game to promote their game and give away free stuff is awesome.
The statue is just beyond impressive the fact that it even works was amazing I originally thought it was just stationary. The attention to detail just blows me away.

I found that statue and the crystite challenges quite fun. Spent a good portion of my days at pax blasting people with large plasma balls. I'm very excited for this game and can't wait to play it some more.

Beautiful sculpture work that looks amazing. Red5 has really done a great job of advertising/marketing Firefall over the last week or two in preparation for the coming beta ramp. The have also mobilized one of the most committed game communities I have ever seen to spread the good news of Firefall!

If you are bummed you couldn't make it to PAX to check out Firefall and the dev team in person you should swing by the firefall forums @http://www.firefallthegame.co m/community/ and chat up the devs there. Also throw me a PM my screenie is "tbone"

That statue is truly awesome. I really want to know what red5 is going to do with it after the game expos seeing as they cant fit the whole thing in their office. Maybe The9 is going to take it and display it at their HQ or something along those lines. Anywho, love the additional details on how this was made, its very impressive to see the process and some of the details that goes into a project like this.

The Challenge is such a great idea! One of the most clever way to get the word out about Firefall.

I wish I could have attended PAX this year.

Firefall looks really awesome, I hope we can get more videos this weekend, as the information we are getting (specially about the new open world and the engineer) is not enough! Beta is about to start, keep us informed :P

What are you guys more hyped about? PVE or PVP?

Can't wait to get my hands on this game! Finally a skill based mmo which doesn't ruin the game with broken cash shop items! :)

I would love to be a part of this. It would actually be sorta fun to run around and act like a madman particpiating in this. But then... I've always loved Treasure Hunts.

This actually makes me wish I was at PaX. I was going to go this year, but then the economy punched me in the face, and when I was down crying, it kept kicking me. Which is a damn good thing that this game is free. Thanks for giving me hope Red 5!

That is so going in my backyard! Give me a cowboy hat and a battlesuit and i will hop up on that thumperr and give it a nice ride! :D in all seriousness, that is a great piece of art, is that going to end up in Red5's lobby?
But this contest depresses me since i cant get out to pax and participate :( this is something i would totally do if i was there. Need to get a group together of master shopsmiths and force ourselves into the picture!(wink wink) any takers?

That is amazing! I wish i could go to Pax and see it in person. I did not realize it was Life size the first time i saw it. I wonder if i can buy the molds off of them so i can build my own suit :D
Make a costume, get up on that statue and get some pics for facebook :) anyone else want to "borrow" the molds and hop up there with me too? :D

That thumper looks so awesome I wan't one in my back yard, very cool looking set Red5. Wish I could go to PAX Prime even more now, looks like a great time, I really want to try Firefall out, just to see it for myself. The crystite challenge is a great idea, I would commit those tasks, no hesitation. I'm looking forward to see a lot more Firefall footage from PAX Prime, if the internet will help me I'll be there in spirit.

I'm pretty floored with the marketing they're doing too, most of all that it was so sudden! I've been waiting for this game since they unveiled it at the last PAX Prime and each time they release more info I like the game even more.

The way they're handling F2P is spot-on. FINALLY a Western developer that gets it! They'll probably have limited slot space for loot and charge for more slots.. I'll take 20, kthnx!

This is a really good way to get more people to the already awesome community of the Firefall forums. I m sure there will be lots of people there who have never heard of the game before, who will then come to the forums, talk with us, and see that the game is even more awesome than they could ever have imagined. This is definately going to be my favourite game for 2011. I m also jealous pretty jealous, cuz I want to play Firefall too :p
PS: those going over there, post some photo's on the firefall forums please ^^

No doubt. FireFall is the most anticipated, the most talk-about big-scaled game of the year. Even, it got the non-gamers all excited.

Cheers! To the tribe of Red5!! You guys have brought the action-shooter to an amazingly unprecedented level.

This one has been on my eye the most ever since I saw the one and only PVE gameplay footage from last year's PAX, no other games, not even the more well-known ones, can even compare towards how much attention I have given this one. Now the moments the entire community has been waiting for for one long year is finally nearing the corner and I am doing everything I can to keep my cool. That's how much I am anticipating this game. XD
