Call Of Duty XP 2011 Tickets Onsale July 19

Activision just announced the musical headliner for Call of Duty XP, the company's CoD themed fan-fest. It's going to be, get this, Kanye West! The controversial Mr. West hasn't publicly performed since the release of Watch the Throne, his most recent album.  He goes on during the final night of XP on Saturday.

All XP ticket-holders are guaranteed a spot at this blockbuster closing night performance, and I don't think anyone will want to miss it. No matter how you feel about him or his music, Kanye is an interesting, charismatic performer.

But this got me thinking: You guys know the "crowd" of CoD players; what do you think reaction to Kanye's inclusion at the show will be? If gamers come out to the show for the zipline, the paintball, or the big prizes for multiplayer, I wonder how they're going to greet Mr. West when he takes the stage?

All of the best people are following Stephen Johnson's twitter feed. Also, email me if you wanna.

I love playing first person shooter games because I get to use the models of my favorite airsoft guns. Not the same as the real thing, but just as good on a rainy day, or 3 in the morning when the neighbors are asleep. I go to this link because I can find airsoft copies of the guns from my favorite games: http://www.airsplat.com/airsof t-video-games.htm.

A little off topic but he actually performed publicly within a week after the album was released.. in Sweden, at one of the biggest festivals here. Just FYI. So that statement about him not performing live since the album is probably only true for the states.

Yes he is a D-Bag. but he makes good music. most of the people that are calling him a d-bag are most likely D-bags themselves and actually want to go see him in concert. Also the only reason he a seems like a bigger D-bag then everyone else is because he famous. lol Kanye is less then a d-bag then a man who cheats on his wife, or a guy that decides to curse a none

Well kanye is a very talented rapper but that doesn't really fit a cod event. Cod always seemed like a fast paced rock n roll type of game. Lol whats next, the jonas brothers. Regardless of what people might think, that will be a fun event despite the failure that was modern warfare 2.

This isn't really a great fit if you think about gaming as a whole community. If you look at it as a marketing plan though, it's a great win. You bring in a hip-hop artist who is always on the charts, then you bring out your more casual gamers as well. The ones who don't traditionally associate themselves with events of this nature. You add in a huge name artist they probably like, you stand more of a chance of getting their money.

Well it makes sense to hire the world's biggest d-bag for a game that attracts so many d-bags.

Not that all people who play CoD are d-bags, but those people seem to be attracted to it.

What? AWESOME! Man, I wish I would've bought a ticket, but living in Maryland, that's a long trip for just a few days. But i'm a huge fan and have loved all the albums. I'm still blasting WTT, and he's a great addition in my opinion.
