According to Harmonix, poor-selling music franchise Rock Band is not dead. That, of course, doesn't mean we should look forward to Rock Band 4 this holiday season, but it does mean DLC will continue to be supported.
“We’re supporting our community, we’re not going away: Rock Band’s not dead,” said Harmonix's John Drake. “We’re not making another retail release this year, but we’re probably the most aggressive company, I’d say, in videogames about supporting our community with digital content."
“I think we’re really proud of how the game turned out, there’s a lot to explore in the game and it’s still making money, it’s still a profitable day-over-day thing for us to have downloadable content sales," Drake added.
Personally, I still play Rock Band 3 occasionally, when I want to blow off some steam, and I'd like to think that the next few years will be very kind to the game. It is, after all, the best music video game that has ever been released.

I absolutely love the Rock Band franchise. I spend my allowance every week on Rock Band Dlc. I've poured well over a thousand into dlc, instrument packs, and games. Its not a poor selling game at all. It's exactly what it says at the end of this article. " It is, after all, the best music video game that has ever been released. " No other music game comes remotely close. And this is coming from a person who grew up playing guitar hero first.

i love rockband its the only game that you can talk hot chicks into playing and also at the same time drink. i just wish they didnt feel obligated into making dlc with the keyboard. theres plenty of awesome bands that dont use a dumb keyboard speaking of great bands where is my hollywood undead?????

Although I take the occasional break from it, as a lifelong gamer in my 30's, the Rock Band games may just be my most played game series ever. It's a franchise enjoyed as much by 6 year old children as by adults of 60 years or more. It's both appealing to casual gamers and has insane amounts of challenge for the hardcore. It's a game that brings music fans together and one that gets better when played together. If you venture into the Pro modes, it may even teach you something. Rock Band is most certainly not dead, but if that day ever comes, it will be a sad, sad day for gaming.

I played RB3 earlier today, and will pick up the Incubus DLC within the next few days. As long as they keep bringing awesome DLC they can count on a steady income from me.

Poor selling? I doubt that. The game is good and all, people are just tired of buying new expensive instruments every year. I still play these games once in a while. It's never a good idea to shed an entire genre.
