Razer, the high end PC gaming peripheral company has kicked off their "PC gaming is not dead" campaign with an ad in the Wall Street Journal, as well as promo site complete with countdown timer on pcgamingisNOTdead.com. The company promises to revolutionize PC gaming on August 26, the first day of PAX Prime 2011 in Seattle, Washington. The ad in the Wall Street Journal is addressed to "our friends Xbox, PlayStation and Wii", insisting that "rumors of [PC gamers] untimely demise have been greatly exaggerated". We're thinking it has something to do with the Switchblade, one of the most impressive devices to come out of CES 2011.

Here's the description of the official PC Gaming is Not Dead panel from PAX Prime:

Join Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan for a live presentation of Razer's new, groundbreaking project for PC Gamers worldwide. If you were impressed with Razer's Switchblade concept, which won the Best of CES 2011 People's Voice Award, wait until you get a load of what Razer has in store for you at PAX Prime. Don't miss this opportunity to experience first-hand, the hottest thing to redefine the industry. The official worldwide announcement will be made during this session at PAX Prime, and don't miss your chance to win epic Razer gear! Q&A session to follow the presentation.

Whatever it is, it sounds like it's going to be a big deal. Read on to see the full ad that was in the Wall Street Journal.

Honestly, there's no need for Razer to kick console gamers in the shins, nor is there a reason for Razer to declare PC gaming is dead anymore. That ship has sailed, and, frankly speaking, there have been many amazing PC games that have come out lately and will continue to come out in the future. The relatively new PC exclusive League of Legends has 15 million subscribers, and new multiplatform games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution are undoubtedly better on the PC. So while Razer's new device certainly may be the next thing to bring PC gaming to a new level, it doesn't exactly need to resurrect anything.

Personally I'm guessing Razer will be releasing their own line of high end PCs or just giving us new info on the Switchblade, which is a rather remarkable device as you can see from our hands-on demo with it. What do you think the peripheral company has in the works, and are you a fan of their glowing products?
