We learned earlier this week that Konami's upcoming PlayStation Vita, Silent Hill: Book of Memories, takes a sharp left turn away from the series' survival horror roots in favor of top-down action with RPG elements. A new trailer explores how it all works, as you can see above.
Book of Memories starts off with players creating an avatar of their own. From there, the story places the titular book in your hands, the pages of which are filled with all of the fine details from your character's life. Those details will be altered in some way as the story progresses, forcing you to explore various locations from across the series' history.
The gameplay shown in the trailer looks an awful lot like an action-RPG, complete with hovering damage indicators that tell you how much punishment you can inflict on your enemies. There's a co-op component of course, and probably a number of other features that will surely be revealed as the game gets closer to release.
