Star Wars: The Old Republic - Checking In On What We Know

Research performed by an analyst at Cowen and Company predicts that Star Wars: The Old Republic is on track to sell 3 million units in its first year. The Old Republic is BioWare's massively multiplayer online role playing game that has been in the works for years. The analyst got the number through pre-order analysis, saying that consumers are looking forward to SW:TOR more than Blizzard Entertainment's big titles StarCraft 2 and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm which both sold over 4 million units.

If thsi analysis is correct, there have been around 3 million pre-orders of the game and the MMO will have atleast 2 million subscribers at launch.

Still no word when the PC exclusive MMO will be out, but EA is definitely planning for a 2011 release. When Star Wars: The Old Republic goes in to beta in September we'll be sure to let you know all about the title. Until then, why don't you check out the SW:TOR pre-order bonuses?
