Back in June, Mad Catz announced that it was getting into the game publishing business. Today, the peripheral-maker has announced that it is publishing Rock Band 3.
"Wait, hasn't that already been published?" you may be asking. Yes. It has, but it's coming out again, this holiday, bundled with the Mad Catz guitar controller, keyboard controller, and pro-guitar controller.
“We are pleased to assume publishing responsibilities for Rock Band 3 this holiday season. Rock Band is the ultimate interactive experience for any music fan, whether they’re looking for a great party game to share with friends, playing through Rock Band’s 3000 plus song library, or seeking out a fun way to learn guitar, drum or keyboard skills using Rock Band 3’s Pro Mode.” Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. said.
Hopefully, this re-release of Rock Band 3 will "work." It's a fantastic game that was criminally under-appreciated. But will the game's second release will gain more fans? As yet, there's no word on the bundle's price or exact release date, but I contacted Mad Catz to ask them, and I'll let you know what I hear.
Updated: 12:26PM: I spoke to Mad Catz, and the company is not ready to discuss the price of their bundle, nor give a release date beyond "Holiday 2011," but they did say "we expect to offer stunning value for money," so I guess you need to prepare for a stunning!

Really wanted to buy the game, but with my broken guitar and my need for a new drum kit, it just costs too much money.

I like MadCatz.

I want to see how the MadCatz instruments compare to the original ones (price, performance).

Wish the drums could have mesh heads so it doesn't make so much damn noise. tap tap tap tap tap.
Gungnir0017
will it have actual "rock" songs. i hope so because lady gaga killed it for me man

The Guitar Hero series is better, just alot more fun and all the notes seem more fluent to play

You know i got to say Mad Catz is really stepping up their game these days. I've been a big fan of the ST IV fight sticks but I haven't bought much else from the company. That was until a buddy of mine bought a wired MCZ controller after his old MS pad got trashed. Both of us were shocked at the quality of the controller and has really got me rethinking just buying first party products. Combine this with the RB announcement and I gotta admit they've made me almost forget about the crappy MCZ PS2 knock off (dubbed player 2) I had back in the day.

most important question:
will the game be detected as unique from the original rb3, so we can get duplicate achievements? :p

This was a great game and deserves another chance.

I didn't buy it the first time and I'm not going to buy it this time.

Rock Band 3 was done a huge disservice the first time around because of the lack of bundling options and low availability of instruments other than the keyboard. This is how the game should have released, but it may be too little, too late.
It is a shame as Rock Band 3 is the near perfect music game and the pro drums are one of my favorite experiences ever in gaming. New games come and go, but I always find myself coming back to it and love the constant DLC.

sounds like a good idead but as far as im concerned i just need the pro guitar from best buy, maybe a new guitar controller for friends cuz mines kinda old but thats it. Hopefully it works out because Rockband is awesome, stupid guitar hero ruining everything :(

I might pick this up actually. I've been meaning to get RB3, and I want the keyboard and pro guitar...so why not?

Wha wha? Mad katz is targeting the bargain minded and cash strapped (who isn't these days) gamers who had to skip on the mega RB3 bundle the first. Not surprising. This is MC's expertise, started back with all the crappy but cheap knock off controllers and now they are humming out the deals hoping to catch the leftover consumers like a alley dog rutting for scraps. Bless capitalism, I hope Mad Katz hits a homerun, every dog deserves a bone every once in a while.

what would be really good is if they included a decent library of DLC songs along with the re-release, that way it doesn't look like they're just trying to get rid of the huge amount of inventory of RB3 that harmonix got when it bought itself...

HUH?
I wish them the best, but I think this is a huge unnecessary gamble on their part. Who is their market for this re-release? I already own RB3, I love it, and I play it several times a month. But I wouldn't buy it again, even for different instruments.

Haven't they got the hint? I can only see bad things coming from this...-_-
