NBA season or not, according to Take Two games, you'll almost certainly be able to play basketball video game NBA 2K12 in October. I don't follow sports like some people, but I understand Professional Run-Hooping-Ball (aka "Basketball") may not happen this year. The NBA season is in doubt because the league's owners and players can't come to an agreement on player salary caps. The company reiterated its commitment to the release of the game, no matter how the NBA season goes, on a financial conference call today.
"If the lockout happens, this is a place you can enjoy basketball on a television screen," a company representative said during the call. "We think Oct 4 will be a good day for our company no matter what, and we feel we can mitigate any damages that will come from a lockout."
The focus on classic players and teams in the upcoming NBA 2K12 game seems to me a smart move on 2K's part. I could easily see gamers using the "downtime" of a league lockout to play famous rivalries from classic teams. What do you think? Is a possible lockout going to be horrible for the video game franchise?
